How for back in the 4Runner line will the scion units work? Anyone know if one of these units will work or fit properly in my 1997 Limited?

After debating with myself over the past 6 months, I finally took the plunge and placed an order through Crutchfield for a Kenwood WooX. After looking at the cost of a custom setup, I wasn't interested in forking 450-500 beans for decent Amp/Box/Sub(s)/Cable setup. The WooX sub will be connected to the stock Scion Pioneer HU, and will be used primarily behind the driverside seat. The truck is my dailiy driver and I really don't have many passangers, so this will be a convenient place for the moment.
I will post pics of install, weather permitting, and plan to create a write up if possible.
1) I do like the remote control feature...
2) Supplied harness...
3) and the ability to quick disconnect the sub..
But will it be enough??? Though I wouldn't mind having 2 12's in a Qlogic box, It's just not practical for me a this time.
If you have an alternative setup using the Scion HU w/ amps, subs and aftermarket speakers, please post your results.

Hip-hip Hooray! I got my hands onto a Scion single disc HU today from a salesman at the Toyota dealership for $90. The dude even provided me with the owner's manual for the radio. I am looking at doing the install this weekend.
My question is: I have the stock single disc radio w/cassette player. I want to know if the cassette deck plugs into the main unit. If it does....then I want to cut the wiring harness plug off the tape deck to modify it for an input plug for my Sirius satellite radio. This way I will have a direct input connection instead of that FM modulator crap.
BTW, I'm also adding the daytime running lamps mod during this time also.

Your stock radio comes out as one unit, (radio, cass, CD, all together) the cass doesn't plug into anything. The SCION unit fits right in its place, with the SAME connectors.
The good news is there IS an additional input on the back (of both units) that is used to plug in a disc changer (which I have). And I am pretty sure there is a company out there that makes a connector assembly that has the square connector on one end, which goes to the SCION unit, and two RCA connectors at the other end to connect to any source you want.
Sorry I don't know the name of the company, but I have seen it posted here.

Thanks for the reply! I may hold off on this weekend's install in hopes that I may find a resolution on this forum to what I want to accomplish. My Sirius unit has one output source which connects directly into your home receiver. I could always turn that into a dual L/R output though. I am wondering if I create something from the local electronics store to fit that 10 pin CD input slot. My only problem would be trying to figure out which two pins out of the ten are for the input L/R without creating HARM to my newly acquired Scion radio. These units don't just pop up on the neighborhood corner for sale by panhandlers you know.

Scion w/ XM AND Dension ICE for iPod
This seems to be the thread for this question. At least this is where the "experts" seem to be.
I want to use one of the 2005 Scion units with XM and an iPod both connected via "line in". Is this possible? How? Should I use the Dension "ICE" adapter for the iPod and the XM adapter from the factory or some other configuration? I want to retain the steering wheel controls as well. I know its a tall order, but I have an all or nothing attitude! Does anyone have a solution?

Well I got Scion T1804 unit yesterday!! I spent an hour drilling and Dremel-ing the additional holes for the second antenna. A special thanks to Whithey8 & Bobby, here on this forum, for sharing your knowledge and photos. Now my only problem is… its 6 degrees F outside this morning. This is killing me. I will be pacing back & forth this morning staring at the thermometer, until it gets to some desirable outside working temperature. Don’t ya hate when you have a new toy and can’t use it right away?

Sorry, I did not what to offend anyone since I only thanked two people. SO thanks to all who have contributed to this thread. I can't take it anymore, I am headed outside to work. The temperature has risen to 16 degrees F. I am going to start the engine to get some heat inside the cabin. I don’t want to break any interior plastic dashboard pieces. We are supposed to have light snow showers tomorrow. I don’t want to work in the snow :upset:
