SCION NAV reception help

i have a 05 runner with a scion nav, and component speaker installed.
im experiencing really poor reception on FM station, in and out and static but the nav's gps and everything else works great
what can i do

Did you happen to tape up the other end of the antenna cable? Perhaps its coming into contact with the head unit. Btw. which components are you running? and what is your stock HU putting out RMS wise?
 
im running cdt comp. 170rms, boston acoustic fillers (rear)very low rms, 2 10's mtx subs 450rms and scion nav unit (older model )not sure the rms but i had to connect to module to the radio cause it had no outputs for the comp.
the navigation works great in everyway but when im listening to the radio its has static and cuts in and out it doesnt matter where i am

From what I understand about the Scion units they were never set up to work with the 4 runner diversity antenna and so do not supply power to the antenna amp in the 4runner. Did you wire a jumper from B+ to the antenna amp pin on the radio connector?

Let me try to explain this again. There are 3 wires that are connected to the antenna amplifier. Two of them are the antenna plugs (1 large and 1 small) of which only the large one has a place to plug in. The third wire supplies 12 volts to the antenna amplifier and in the 4runner radios this 12 volts is supplied from inside the radio. If this 12 volts is not present then you have no antenna amplification and therefore a very weak signal to the radio which would cause the problem you are having.

I know the feeling believe me but after awhile it gets less scary. :D I used to have family in Dover and thought it was beautiful there , but it was many years ago.
 
Ok....so I am having the same issue with my Scion H/U I installed. How do I add "power" to the antenna to increase the signal strength? I am usign the 1806 H/U which was plug and play with the original wiring harness.

There are 2 white plugs behind the radio, one has 6 pins and one has 10 pins. Find pin 8 on the 10 pin plug and make sure it has 12 volts on it when the radio is on.

Ok....can I just jump in a wire from a 12v source, or can I connect it from the power wire on the same/the other plug on the back?
 
ok i ve tried everything my reception still sucks, does anyone in my area with electronic expertise willing to come by and help out om willing to pay just name your price and if its affordable then ok
let me know
