Just wanted to know if I could use the Metra style adapter kits to make it work? I got one for a good price and would like to make it work. My thought are to get this TOYOTA 4Runner 02 03 04 OEM Reverse Radio Wire Harness | eBay and this Radio Install Harness Toyota Lexus Stereo Plug JBL amp | eBay I have searched a bit but the JBL Scion threads are limited. good question id also really want to know too because i need to replace my factory head unit, it wont play any cd's anymore due to "error 1"
Well, I just bought a Scion T1809 off of Ebay, I'm going to try to install in the next week or two. I'll update this post afterwards because I've had such a hard time putting together all these broken threads with half answers!
I have:
2003 Sport with JBL
I plan to use:
Scion T1809 - 130.00
IPod Cable - SC12235 - 10.00
PAC TATO - 54.00
PAC SWI-PS - 38.00
I still think I may need the reverse harness - 40.00
This was not my wisest decision to buy this Headunit without doing a little more research, but I'm going to make the best of it and see what works!

I would just pull out the JBL Amp. No need for a TATO. and all you should need is a 1671 harness, and the revers harness.
But I wouldn't do this install you really aren't getting your moneys worth.
for a$130 you can get a nice single Din with better audio output.
