scion xb single-disc head unit

I have the single-disc and even that is an ENORMOUS improvement over the stock HU. But for the single-disc, you should not pay ANYTHING more than around $100. I paid $110 for mine, the extra $10 for shipping ... but I have had many offered to me for $80 (though that was after I already purchased the one for $110) ...

Okay, the 4runner gang is switching to Scion radios. Gotta ask...what are the Scion people switching to when they get rid of their head units to us?????

I just had my friend install my scion single-disc head unit. It only took about thirty minutes and seemed pretty easy. I can't believe how much better it sounds. All the base and the beautiful distortion. The highs and mids are actually clear now. What a piece of ish stock head unit they tried to stick us with. This was well worth $130.

jj8111,

Tangerine isn't a perfect match in my book. But the other colors found on the 6 - disc are cool. When I leave from work, I'm usually displaying a green or blue background color. On the way back, i can change it to the more darker red, purple colors. The contrast with the rest of the dashboard lights really looks nice.

got me a scion

I just got a scion cd radio and itstalled it on my 4 runner. i t was pretty easy to install did not take that long. can someone tell me why the stock 4 runner has 2 antenna inputs in the back and the scion just one? i only used one of the antenna inputs that fitted the back of the sion the other one was a lil smaller so i just taped it up with electrical tape. also there is one more connection in the back of the scion radio do you know what its for?

I did the same as you with the extra antenna prong. My radio doesn't work, which is a good thing b/c my girlfriend is the only one that wants to listen to it.

wait, you mean the radio no longer works because of that second antenna??? I may not install my Scion Head Unit after all if this is really the case :(

I connected only one and my Am and FM work fine.

okay good, I was starting to get worried. I'll be installing mine this afternoon, got it in the mail yesterday and I'm looking forward to the sound quality and mp3 capability. :D

Derek - please post your impressions of the improvement! I should be getting mine in the mail today I think too.

The second antenna is the diversity antenna and not used in the 4R. Just tape if off and you'll be fine. I've had mine for six months with no reception issue with either AM or FM stations.

YMMV
