Dash Cam

Taped the location...kind of a one shot deal here.

installed with 3M VHB tape.

KDLINKS sent me a hardwire kit for $15 so I ran the power cable and the rear camera cable up in the headliner and down the passenger pillar. Hardwired the camera behind the dash and ran the rear cable to the back glass.

Of course the rear camera is intended to be glued onto the rear glass but can't do that and roll the glass down. So back to fabricating a plate to go at the top of the glass.

a little paint and slipped inside the headliner and attached again with VHB tape.

Turns on with the 4runner without having to touch it. If you want, it does offer a motion detection mode if you need it for security. Video quality is great - 1080HD.

But the magnetic Hula Girl Mod is a must have. Not sure how I lived without it.

Techstream

Well I started having intermittent issues with my TPMS system. So Ii did the TPMS bypass mod with a switch because I do plan on fixing the problem.

And bought a OBD2 cable and it came with some Software as well.

Using info from this website Techstream TIS VCI Installation Guide (64-bit OS) Including All Software Needed! - Scion FR-S Forum | Subaru BRZ Forum | Toyota 86 GT 86 Forum | AS1 Forum - FT86CLUB I installed the version 10.10.018.

I was able to run this straight off of a windows 10 64bit laptop without having to run in virtual XP mode. Took about an hour and a few run throughs but it worked first try.

All for $25 plus shipping.

Now if I can figure out how to fix the TPMS as now it shows good pressure on each sensor. Figures.

Now at 98k miles, so this weekend I did the drain and fill. 13 quarts of genuine WS fluid. Simple to do and I think it shifts better now.

Still no relapse on TPMS light.

When i got the 4Runner I cleaned up the headlights but they have started to yellow across the tops again.
Here is where I started.

After sanding with 600 then 2000.

Then after spraying with clearcoat UV paint and polishing.

It was a pain to do this. The paint seems near impossible to work with and it is hard to paint clear on clear and see what you are doing. Next go round will be new lights. Maybe this will last a while.

I hear ya. I did mine with the 3M kit. Wet sanded with 1000, 3000, 5000, then polish compound, then clear coat gel. I only did mine a month or so ago, and they still look good. How long did you get out of yours before they started yellowing again?

Well just a milestone nothing to really see here.

A few things to catch up on here.

First thing is the Rust on the rear lift gate. Rusted through from the inside out due to seperation of the insulation?? Toyota puts inside.

Next was a rear axle seal repair. Bad seal design in my opinion. The seal looked fine only the spring popped off. Still had to replace it and that &&%$#@$ parking brake assembly.

Grocery store parking lot accident - I was savagely attacked by a yellow cement post.

New update. My custom modified CB radio started to turn itself off and on intermittently. If you co back and look this was a BearCat880 with the case chopped down and the top 1/8" of the front bezel milled off and Orange Lighting Film over the internal LED's installed into the dash with a single din head unit.
Needless to say, I was not happy if this thing was going to crap out seeing how much work it took to get it in the first time.
Well I did a little shopping and found something awesome!
President CB Radio has a true single din model know. It is the McKinley.

Correct screen color, true single din, front speaker, PA capable, works with my current BearCat wireless mic.

This thing picks up and transmits way better than the 880. It has some patented "automatic squelch control" that is fabulous. I leave it on all the time and only hear the good stuff.

I Love it.

and come to find out when I took out the 880 I found the problem. The inline fuse holder. The plastic kind you slip together and quarter twist to lock. One of the lock tabs had broken off.
