Seafoamed today!!

I seafoamed my 2011 4runner today. I put the first 3rd of the Damn can into the wrong vacuum hose though. I used the one to the left of the throttle body, it sucked the seafoam up but nothing happened, no white smoke no nothing. I went to my old forum which is the FJ cruiser forum and I found the right vacuum hose. Sucked up more seafoam and let it sit for a bit. Finally when I drove off the smoke was flowing out my tail pipe, I put an additional bottle in the gas tank. So far it runs a bit better, I just hope the first hose I used to such some up does not wreck my engine and come to bite me in the ass.!!!

Can you post a pic of where you put it in on accident?

I'm having trouble understanding the location... It may have been the valve cover (PCV fresh air source).
 
Use quality gasoline from a Top Tier supplier and you won't need to screw around with Seafoam (solvent) or any "pop and pour" products to attempt to clean out your fuel system. I'd stick with something like Techron or STP products (detergents) if you are looking for a clean up after using low quality gasoline. All gasoline is NOT created equal. Not by a long shot. I'll post pics later this afternoon. I'll show the right place to put it and then the other hose I sucked it into.
 
You guys don't really understand the application at all.

The seafoam is used to clean the intake runners and the combustion chamber from oil->carbon buildup. I will agree that adding it to the fuel system does no do squat, but that is not what he is really talking about.

If we pulled your intake and heads today you would be shocked at what you saw. And yes it does kill power. Thus the reason for a catch can and occasional sea foam cleaning.

It has nothing to do with the gasoline you run and has everything to do with the PCV system.

Suggest you trace where the seafoam went in your first pour....(kinda important!)

If you think it went into the crankcase (somehow), I would highly suggest changing the oil asap.
No smoke, doubt it went where you wanted it to go.........:confused:

Disclaimer: I don't suggest adding anything to your vacuum hoses or fuel system or crankcase other than Syn 0-20. (But that's just me)

I have read the owner's and maintenance manual cover to cover and I can't find this "Seafoam at X miles" procedure anywhere. Do you know something the Toyota Engineers don't?

Even if the Seafoam went to the crank case it would not hurt the motor.

I must have missed it where it stated on their website that said you can add it to the crankcase...

If so, please paste that link....

Not to get off course, but there are a number of Toyota dealers who do.

At 30K and nowhere to be found in owners manual....

"Sir, we highly recommended a power steering fluid flush and a fuel injection system cleaning".

Yep, it went into your crankase. That it the PCV fresh air source.

No big deal. Won't really hurt anything in the oil, but I might change it sooner rather than later.

If you can't tell, the "experts" here don't know anything about modern engines.

Again, this is not a fuel injection cleaning process. Really has nothing at all to do with fuel.

It says it right on the can, and if you really looked at the site you would have seen it.
