Seat Belt Alarm Ding, Disable??

I like the fact I don't have the seat belt buzzer for the fact that it's not there annoying me when offroading. I'm so seatbelt conscious when driving on the road that it wouldn't be an issue, but when 4 wheeling I don't usually wear it since I like to move around, like leaning out the window to see obstacles.

I am truely amazed that some of you would rather risk serious injury or death in a minor accident from not wearing a seatbelt because you are slighty uncomfortable, or cant lean out a window for some stupid reason, or you might think its uncool to wear it when your buddies are around or whatever. The risk is REAL and the consequences are SERIOUS!!
Are any of you married? Do any of you have kids? What are you going to say to them when you're in a wheelchair pushing a joystick with your chin and they ask why didn't you take responsibility for you own safety and wear a simple, easy to use seatbelt??
It's because of people like you that auto manufacturers put these buzzers, bells and flashing lights in in the first place, because despite it being the LAW and COMMON SENSE, you still dont get it.
I'm a firefighter and rescue technician. You would be quite suprised of the number of fatal car accidents that I have attended where occupants have died in easily survivable events if only they'd been wearing a damn seatbelt. Even slow speed stuff can kill you. What do think an airbag deploying is going to do to your face when its an inch away from the steering wheel or passenger dash? How strong is your neck when your head bounces off the roof from that deeper than expected pot hole? Good luck to you trying to keep your head and limbs inside the car as it slowly rolls. And if you think you're ok because you are a great driver, experienced and safe and in perfect control at all times, tell me how much control have you got over all those other drivers on the roads and what they do?
Please guys, reconsider your use of seatbelts.

1. If you need to lean out the window that much while offroading, you're either offroading in the wrong vehicle, or you need to get better at offroading.
2. Take a look at some offroading magazines, and watch some offroading TV show. Just about every one of these rigs has a 5 point harness system in it. Those aren't cheap, and I bet they aren't there just to look cool.

FYI... I went to my dealer yesterday and asked about disabling the seatbelt chime in my 2008 LTD. The service advisor told me they hooked it up to the computer and looked through all the options, and disabling the seatbelt warning sound was not an available choice.
They had no problem disabling my DRL's or disconnecting the running board lights, so I have no reason to believe they're jerking me around on this.

At the very least it won't sense your weight properly and perhaps the pre-tensioner on the belt wouldn't activate even when you're wearing the belt. I don't know either of those statements to be true but I consider them within the realm of possibility.Ohio4R said:
If you're 'hell bent' on eliminating the ding find the dinger. I don't know if the sound source is the same one that does the key, VSC, 4wd function chimes etc. I personally would love to lose the key dinger. You can't lock the keys in it with the key in the ignition. I don't want to lose the 4wd and VSC alerts chimes though :cheers:

Just make sure you've got the vehicle doors closed when you do it or it won't work
