2008 seat belt chime
Thank you for the threads. My display is already in b-off mode. It appears the technician had already tried this and I guess that is why they were so puzzled. Still got the chime.
My passengers feel rushed when they are getting settled and then the chimes get faster and more frequent and sounding as if its about to blow.
I have always worn belts. After starting my vehicle I frequently stay in park for a bit before driving. I just dont want to listen to the sound before the belt goes on.

NICE. Worked like a charm first time out.
Now I don't have to drive around with the seat belt already connected like I've done since I've gotten my Urban. That was annoying as well.
I know seat belts save lives, and I've always been a faithful seat belt wearer. NOW here in Florida they are mandatory, so the petulant and immature part of my personality says screw the government, I'm not wearing my belt because I don't want them telling me ANOTHER thing to do just because they say so.
Childish I know. I fully admit it.

Obviously techno either didn't read the entire, post, didn't understand it, or can't read. If he had, he would have seen me twice admit that I was being petulant and childish (techno - since I'm sure that you have no idea what the word means, the definition of "petulant" is "cranky or irritable").

Sorry if my opinion hurt your feelings, but your post, which I obviously did read, makes you look quite silly. Expect to be flamed when you post that kind of stuff.
I don't know you at all and maybe there's no reason why I should care or not, but I never want to hear about you being involved in an accident and suffering serious injuries that could otherwise be avoided by wearing your seatbelt. Your reasoning for not wearing one is truly amazing. I'm pretty sure you don't rob banks and rape women even though you've been told not to.
Please, try not to let your petulant side make life and death decisions for you, which is just what deciding to wear or not wear a seatbelt is. Your family and friends will thank you for it.

Thx much for this thread, and the pointers to the other threads on how to do this. I'd have never thought that disabling that annoying chime was even possible.
YES, I wear my seatbelt 100% of the time...but the chime goes off and highly annoys me if I have a heavier load than normal in my briefcase, which always rides in my passenger seat. I've had my T4R since Christmas '08 and can't tell you how many times I've had to heave my briefcase into the back seat while at a stop light or stop sign just to keep from going crazy over the rest of the trip...

The point I was trying to make was that I feel we already have too much government intrusion into our lives. Now the government is mandating that we do things that only involve one's self preservation, things that do not affect anyone but that one particular individual. If motorcyclists don't want to wear helmets, then they shouldn't have to. That's their choice and it doesn't affect anyone else. Same goes for seatbelts. I agree 100% that they should be worn, but it should be a choice. I don't agree with the government treating us like children and telling us we need wear seatbelts or else risk a ticket.

I'm a wildlife photographer and hunt where having the door chime going off isn't disirable. I don't hunt from the vehicle but do want to get as far into the back-country as I can un-noticed before I start my foot treck. Also - some of my best snap-shots (photos) have come from the drivers seat!
Same with daytime driving lights... great on the road - but not too useful when your crawling into the back country. And - Since the most dangerous thing in the woods is man - its nice to know you (or your wife/kids).. can drop out of site when needed in an emergency situation. Tough to do with DTRL on.
I wear my seatbelt instinctively - and enforce its use in my vehicles. I support them - but not the noise these "idiot-buzzers" produce.
There are times where jumping from my truck has become a reality for passengers - and I'm sure they were glad and will be glad on my new rig - that at that critical moment - I'm not being distracted by that seat-belt rant.
These posts are always entertaining..., I understand and support the safety aspects - but there are always circumstances where regulation goes too far - and hence the "greatness" of sites like TR4.org. Guess maybe we need to bring bring back the old boot-out "Don't Tread on Me" bumper stickers!

One of the big reasons for seat belt and motorcycle helmet laws across the country is due to the massive amounts of money that is being spent on medical costs for preventable injuries. Billions of dollars that could otherwise be spent on other much more important medical issues. Hospital resources are stretched to the limit in most cities without the added burden of treating people who make bad choices and hurt themselves, so governments find themselves in the position where they need to take some preventable measures. Although it seems that not wearing a seat belt will only effect that one person, it has has much wider impact than you might first realize. Unfortunately commonsense doesn't always prevail in society so decisions have to be made for us for the benefit of everyone. Its just democracy at work.
And those annoying seatbelt chimes and all the other bells and whistles that go off (yes, they annoy the sh!t out of me too) I suspect that a contributing reason for their existence is for safety ratings to make them look better on paper and score more points, ie; marketing.
