It's a good time up there! Not super technical or crawlerish but had to pick good lines - especially w/out lockers. Tried it last year without a lift or tires and didn't make it to the top, for what that's worth. I'll upload some picks when I get a second.

Howdy Seattlites,
I've lived in the area for a long time, but I am just recently getting in to the 4runner scene. I am curious what resources you guys use to find trails around here? I see a link to NWJeepn.com, The Trail Starts Here! above, but was wondering if there was any other good resources out there for locating good trails.
Also, do you have any good resources for forest service road maps and finding good camping spots? I know there are probably a million good places out there, but as a total noob, I don't know where to start.

I also live in Renton. What part are you in?
It really depends on what types of trails you're interested in. NWJeepn is a great tool, but for longer expedition style trails most of what I learned is word of mouth, or wanting to get to a destination, and trying to find an alternate route to get there.

I moved in to the lower Kennydale neighborhood in December 2015. I think I must be close to you because I saw some pictures in your thread that you took in that gravel pullout area near the VMAC.
As for the trails, it sounds like Ill need to scour this thread to find some good destinations. Right now my runner is bone stock, so I might be a little limited, but that should change in the next month or so. Hoping to get out and do a little camping before the weather turns.

The WTA (Washington Trails Association) is a good resource for hiking/camping spots in the state.
As far as wheeling trails, someone else will have to help. I can only tell you the good malls to crawl through.

Oh, yeah I just live right up the hill from you then. Small world! Another user, whose username I cannot remember, lives down by you as well. I just responded to your questions in my build thread. Let me know if I missed anything!
Any of you northwest guys know of any good spots to get your 4runner down on a river bank or close to the shore of the water? I'm looking for a place to cool off during this upcoming heatwave and I'd love to be on the water. Since I don't have a boat I figure I'll get close enough where I can relax near the water with the hatch open so I can listen to some tunes or take a nap. I love the idea of Lake Cle Elum but would like to avoid driving that far but if that's the only spot to get my rig on the shore then I suppose that would suffice. Surely there's some river banks near Fall City, Carnation, Monroe, Sultan, Goldbar, etc..?

Check out Dry Creek campground at cle elum. It's a drive but it's nice.

I can't remember exactly where it was, but we were on some powerline trails up near Darrington on the Sauk River and drove out on the river bank, which was nice and sandy. Maybe look at some maps of that area online and you should be able to find it.

I don't know if it's a spot I'd recommend camping, honestly. Lots of rednecks were out there tearing around on dirt bikes and shooting their shotguns.

Well, I have a bunch of parts heading my way. I have parts for the TBU (rotors, pads, shims,) as well as new rear shoes for the drum breaks coming via Cammelback, as well as the Tacoma whip antenna replacement. My current electric antenna really grinds my gears as it is grinding its gears. Teehee. I still need to pick up my TBU calipers from NAPA. I think I will go ahead and pick up a couple new CVs while I am there in anticipation of my lift.
This is all prep because I also have some King Extended COs on the way to match up with my SPC LR UCAs for the front. I will be ordering the SS rear 1.2 rear only lift as soon as I get the TBU and CV swap sorted. That should be it for the lift, and me for a while.
Am I missing anything obvious?
I think the rear SS 1.2 comes with extended sway bar lings, but I think I still need to get some for the fronts. That, and I was going to try to get new mounting hardware for the shocks, maybe stainless steel grade 8? I heard someone on here talk about having an older bolt sheer off when he was mounting a rear shock. Anyway..
This will be my first lift. I don't have all the helpful tools, but I have mechanic friend that has helped me with a few projects, bumpers and whatnot. Either I will try to enlist his assistance or maybe just wing it.
