Seattle area shop for suspension install

The springs on my '00 4Runner are noticeably sagging in the rear and I plan to put new ones on. I'm thinking 1999 tall coils if I can find them and Bilstein HDs. I'm not looking for much lift as I'm happy with the stock ride height.

That having been said - I've called a few shops to get quotes for the suspension install and the prices are outrageous. One shop quoted around $1000 *just* to install the shocks. On a 15 year old 4Runner; which sounds outrageous.

Are there any shops that will do this job more reasonably? I have a one car garage and I have no experience with working with a spring compressor.

I am curious also since I want to lift my 2005.
I know I could do it since I am a aircraft mechanic but it still is diffrent than changing a landing gear on a 757. I will do my search and maybe I can help.
What part of Seattle do you live in, I live in Kent now.

If you can change a landing gear on a 757 you can change out suspensions on a 3rd gen 4runner. I work on these c17s and landing gears can be a pain in the ass. Only thing that might take a while is the rear drivers side aft shock or compressing the front springs if you never done it before.

Id recommend pulling your coilovers and taking just them into a shop to get the new springs set on them then reinstall them. I don't mess with spring compressors. They kinda make me nervous and slightly scare the shit out of me. All that tension if it pops out its all bad. Id rather make that part someone else's problem.

Give the guys at TorFab a call. Or Mule Expedition Outfitters, but they're a bit spendy for labor.

I would also be interested in finding REASONABLE vehicle (and home maintenance) labor in the greater Seattle area ? Why the heck is labor on anything soooo expensive here ?

I have a 2005 v6 sport 4Runner and I’m looking to install a lift on it. I just moved over this way and I have no tools at my disposal. I’m looking for some help with the install as I would like to participate so I know what I’m doing in the future if I ever need to pull it off again or for repairs etc. I live in Long Beach, WA so I’m right by Astoria and a few hours from Seattle. For maintenance wise, I’ve had luck with Bothell Toyota specialist. Their price is fair and very good shop. Came there couple of times for diagnosis and Repair and they only will recommend you what’s needed unlike most shop what will up sell you everything.

Suspension/Leveling Kit/Lift

Hey everyone, I have a 2017 4runner SR5. I don't know much of anything about cars/trucks and am not anticipating that I will get into serious off-roading but I have been thinking about having some work done (e.g., lift/suspension/leveling kit). I've been reading a lot of different threads and have seen a number of intriguing ideas but I figured I'd post something on here as well to see what else I can gather.

Basically, what I would like is to level the 4runner out but would also be interested in raising it a few inches (maybe 3). I would be interested in some enhanced performance but like I said I am not doing any significant off-roading and so I'm not sure if it is even worth it to try to enhance the drivability for on-road/minor off-roading, especially within my price range.

I know a lot of people on here do their own work but because I'm not mechanically inclined at all, I would also love additional recommendations on a good place to have everything installed near the Issaquah area, which I know some have already been mentioned. I've already looked into MULE but was priced at $3,000 out the door. I'm hoping to spend somewhere between $1-2k out the door (not including tires/wheels).

Any suggestions would be awesome!

I was trying to find you a DIY shop in the area, if you're handy, but the only one I found was for the wealthy with a monthly rate starting at $150 for access to the garage. :frusty:
