Help me spend 35K
Hey guys, I got rid of my TE in 10 and the day I got rid of it, I regretted it.
I bought an FJ to replace the 4R and sure enough I ended up back here with yet another 5th gen... Which brings me to where I am today.
We have just ordered a tiny house that is being built in Arkansas. The tiny house will weigh in at about 8-10K lbs when completed. I have towed 6000lbs with the 4runner and it was not happy so I know 8-10K is out of the question. I need to tow the tiny house back to Florida and potentially will be pulling the tiny house on various short/med trips in the coming year or so.
I need something with more towing capacity. I want to continue with the overland type of vehicle. Like many of us, I wish Toyota offered a diesel option in the US and since diesel is not an option, neither is a SC(<-off topic rant) I find myself in love with the 4runner for everything it does well but underpowered when it comes to towing capacity.
Here is my wish list:
I am considering the following vehicles as potential replacements:
I guess if you loved the utility of the 4runner but needed more towing power what would you get with 35K out the door-- AND GO!

Here is my wish list:
- between 30-35K
- V8 or Diesel powerplant
- Capable of towing 8,000 lbs
- can be used as an overland vehicle when not towing
- trail capable with out being overly massive
- Prefer to stay away from American brands: ford, chevy, ram
- I am not looking for a tow rig. I am looking for an overall car that I can drive to business meetings, load my mtb on the weekends, and has the ability to tow when needed...
I am considering the following vehicles as potential replacements:
- 2008-2010 LC200- ugly as can be but badass for what it is and what it can do
- 2014+ Tundra Crewmax- great contendor but a little big for my taste
- GX460-underpowered but very 4runneresq w/V8
- 2016 Titan XD - I am sure will be outside of my price range and probably just as big as the tundra
I guess if you loved the utility of the 4runner but needed more towing power what would you get with 35K out the door-- AND GO!
