Hey everyone....been a while since I posted but have been lurking a little. Hope all is well....Anyway...I am selling my 97 and want (at least I think I do) to buy another 3rd gen. I cannot say enough good things...mine has 350k but she is starting to show her age and I need to get something not so long in the tooth. I have been reading up on 3rd's and 4th's and although the 4L engine seems to be a musch needed power upgrade I am familiar with the 3.4 ( and to be honest it isn't like it was slow, just could use a little more aceleration at times)and can do much of the work myself....which is a important b/c I do not have the $$ to always have to send something to the mechanic...not that much goes wrong but things like plugs/wires, injectors, brakes, suspension parts, VC gasgets, ect...I want to stay in the $5k-$8k range. I will be using it as a DD as well as work vehicle at times. I hunt/fish when I can, but not much into offroading as I have enough issues and work to do on the house so I don't need to make more work if I F something up offroad....occasional 4x4 use in winter or while hunting fishing.
I really like the idea of another 5spd, the whole trans cooler failure thing has me worried
Defianetly a 4wd, shooting for something between low to mid 100k. I know they stopped the 5spds in 99 and have since reintroduced them. I am not dead set on a 5spd but I want less trouble or potential trouble with ease of maintinace. a clutch is alot less than a transmission. am I being too worried?
Please help....any insightful experience/imput is appreciated
