Well, i must say that i am wrong about Sequoia. 2 weeks ago, i went to Toyota dealer for my Sienna and checked out a Sequoia Limited (2018). There was also a Land Cruiser near it.
The interior material quality overall definitely favors LC. There are lots of hard plastics in Sequoia (but soft where you actually touch; so, that was good).
The underside of LC is cleaner...and of course it has a rear axle vs. IRS. And yeah, i am sure that LC is built to a higher standard.
But damn, the interior space on the Sequoia is just HUGE! It makes the LC feel like a compact SUV next to it. Tons of shoulder and leg room! 3rd row rivals my minivan! (LC, in contrast, even the 2nd row legroom is a joke! Don’t even mention the 3rd row...piss poor!)
You get the same JBL system in the LC in the Sequoia...which is a big plus for me because the JBL system in both of these SUVs sounds great!
Of course, the whole entertainment system outside that of the JBL system is pure 2008...in other words, badly outdated.
But, unlike 4runner, Sequoia has all the newest safety features including blind spot, radar cruise, LED headlights, cross-traffic, etc..
The other bad thing about Sequoia is its dismal fuel economy...13/17 (regular gas). (LC is 13/18, regular gas.)
Sequoia still uses the 6-speed automatic tranny with the 5.7 engine. (LC uses 8-speed tranny instead.)
There have been some failures reported with the 8-speed tranny in the LC...more so than the old 6-speed...so, Sequoia having the 6-speed may not be a bad thing.
Sequoia does NOT have CRAWL, lockers, KDSS, or multi-terrain select. So, i am sure that LC will eat it alive in off-road conditions. But it does have Multi-mode 4wd and standard fare ATRAC. (So, i am mainly impress with it from a family point of view.)
In conclusion, i stand corrected on the Sequoia. Pretty damn nice SUV!
