Serpentine Belt Squeel - V6

Ive got a 2003 4Runner with 123,000. Serpentine belt squeals in the morning sometimes when its humid. It usually dries out quick and goes away. I just changed the belt two years ago with a Goodyear Gatorback that seemed to work till recent. Is there a better belt out there?

I'm fond of OEM, but I'm biased. Have you tried to lube it at all?

I tried some "belt dressing." That seemed to make it squeal all the time until it wore off. I would suspect something more mechanical is wrong (pulleys, belt tensioner, etc) except it goes away after it warms up.

Sounds like it could be your tensioner. I would put a socket on it and pull it tight. They should tighten themself, but I have found that a little extra pull will do the trick. Your next option would be to replace the tensioner. You could try replacing the belt, but my experience is that replacing a good quality belt isn't the answer. I would avoid the belt dressing products. That is a temporary fix and could cause more hassle because it is essentially a spray adhesive.
