Shifting Cargo in a 2013

I am looking for advice - We just acquired a 2013 with the 3rd row seating as my wife's daily driver. We use the 3rd row for overflow kid transport and cargo area nicely holds the dog. When she actually uses the cargo area for cargo everything slides to the rear and falls out when she opens the liftgate. This has been an annoyance with groceries, but last night a full gallon of paint fell out and popped open on the driveway. She's too short to grab cargo through the window. So the dilemma is...is there a load bar or cargo box that is 1) easily removable if she wants to take the dog somewhere and 2)does not interfere with the 3rd row seats?

I could fabricate something, either wood or metal, but thought I would see if anyone else was encountering this problem and has solved it

In 2010 I had to pay for it... can't remember what I paid for it, but it wasn't $20.

But the cargo net works well. I have mine not as a tail gate net, but flat over the floor to keep things from sliding around, as well as out.

YES! This is one of my biggest complaints about my 4th gen. When the double deck cargo thing is down it creates a lip that angles your cargo is such a way that it slides out when you open the hatch. I lost a brand new battery and countless cases of beer before I learnt my lesson.

Not the OPs issue, just wanted to vent.

You can also try the cargo tote or the cargo net spider (if you have the sliding tray).

This doesn't help the OP as you cannot have the tray with a third row... but to be used as intended, the spider net also requires the Cargo divider (p/n: PT924-98100-20). If you don't have this you will need to install it, or find a way to anchor the spider net to the front of the tray another way.

Walmart sells a type of load bar that is adjustable for like $20. I use that to keep my bin with safety gear and essentials in place. In terms of groceries, paint, etc, I have a few cargo totes, also from Walmart that work great. I also have the sliding tray so it can be a pain to have to undo it, to use the slider. Also, the cargo totes keep the small items from falling under the cargo try. No one likes to find the missing half rotten apple wedged under there a few days later.
