ok i have a 1990 4-runner with 240,000 on it lol, when i put it in drive it has accelerates slow unless i throw it in first and shift up to drive, and my overdrive light blinks on and off when the button is pushed in for the overdrive to be on and when im driving 60 its taking 2500- 2700 rpms instead of 2200, its like its not going into the next gear cause sometime it will shift again and ride at 2200 rpms for awile then kick back out, what could be wrong?

Automatic transmissions get finicky when they age, and most people here are going to be running with manuals due to the fact that the automatic transmission 4Runners were even more underpowered than the manual ones, so there might not be many answers...

First thing to check is the transmission fluid, it could be keeping you from shifting properly if it's low.

It could also be telling you that the overdrive isn't working due to the clutch pack being worn out or some other issue. Definitely check the fluid level first though. Look in the owners manual or search the net/site for the blinking overdrive light and what it means and that could tell you the answer, or at least another direction to go.
