Shifting Problems from 4 wheel back to two wheel in a 94 Runne

Shifts easily to 4 wheel high or 4 wheel low, but does not easily shift back to two wheel drive.

Pull the shifter base and see what shape your bushings are in.

Does it shift fine, and just not pop out of 4wd for a bit? Or is it psychically hard to move the shift lever back in to 2wd.

v6 or 4 cylinder?

Did you try the old forwards/backwards while trying to shift it trick?

Hard to get it to switch back to two wheel.

It easily goes into 4H or 4L. Then when I shift back to 2W position it does not come out of 4W. Eventually by backing and pulling forward and working the lever it has eventually gone back. It was perfect until just recently. Went from noproblem to difficult. Thanks

4w to 2W problems

My Runner is a 94, stick, 3.0l

It is not physically hard to shift. The lever seems to move to the proper place to re engage 2W but it stays in 4W until it eventually responds after repeated efforts.
