shocks

I have a 98 ltd 4wd with 207, xxx miles still running the original shocks. I'm doing a few mods next week and would like to replace them but I'm not sure witch ones to get. I dd the truck and wheel on the weekends. I want a good shock, nothing to stiff though.

Mods going on next week

265/75/16 toyo mt

Oem bjs

Also how capable will she be with these mods.

Most everyone on here seems to really like the Bilsteins. I have KYB's on mine and really like them. They aren't too harsh and make most bumps in the road feel minor without feeling like a buckboard wagon going over them.

I am going to second the KYB vote....I have KYB Monomax, which do ride a bit stiffer but have added a significant amount of control through elimination of body roll. I can now take hi-way on-ramps at sedan speeds....something I would not dared to have done with former SUV's (Ford/Chevy) and their OEM shocks. The Monomax's have done very well on the trail too....but my setup is stock; no lift & standard wheels and tires.

I have Bilstein 4600s (HD). They are considerably stiffer than the originals were @116k. They softened up a little after breaking in a bit but not much.
I like the stiffer ride, plus they're really smooth at highway speeds.
They've been great on the limited off roaring I've done. I bought them over the 5100s knowing that I wouldn't be doing any serious wheeling.

If you are doing a spacer lift then why not just go with stock replacement shocks? You won't have to worry about how it will ride.
Most of us are running Bilsteins and such because we have a full suspension lift.

In a year or so I want to upgrade the lift and go bigger. I just figured spend the money on good shocks now.

If you are going to do that then get the Bilstein's. I would go ahead and get new springs now and save spending the money twice. Go ahead and do the lift how you want it. Toytec sells several different lift springs you can pair with the 5100s.
