Shorted a wire, now multiple items not working

Today I was performing the key reminder disable mod from
http://www.top4runners.com/ja/2007/keyreminder.html and made a dumb mistake.

I stupidly let a hot wire I had tapped into the 15amp Power Outlet fuse (from fuse box in driver side dash area) touch metal and sparks flew. This hot wire powers a switch I added which turns on/off an additional power outlet I installed under the dash which I use with a Garmin Nuvi.

The 15 amp fuse did not blow. But now none of the following work:

Power Seats
Rear Hatch
Sun Roof
Power outlet in center console

I used a test light and see that there is no power being sent to that fuse location or the locations for the 30 amp fuses for the seats. I looked in the large fuse box under the hood, but I didn't see any labels that looked like they would help me.

I'm not really sure what else might not be working as I just ran inside to cry here for help.

Any ideas/help would be awesome.

After a little more investigation and reading in the manual, I found that I blew a 50amp fusible link in the compartment under the hood. It was labeled #50 in the manual and supplies power to all windows, power seats, moonroof and rear hatch .

I put a new one in ( $17.99 from the dealer) and all is well.

This happened because I erroneously tapped my hot wire for my switch to the hot side of the fuse plug. If I had tapped into the fused side of the fuse plug then the 15 amp mini fuse would have blown instead.

Lesson learned.

Yea, I was scared I had done something much worse. Looks like those fusible links are in there to protect me from myself! In hindsight, I should have been more careful.

Yes, it was very easy to replace.

Here is the fusible link showing where it blew. Notice the thin metal is broken.

And here is where it was located in the fuse box of the engine compartment. It's the red one between the two purple ones at the top of the fuse box

So, what happens when you go to sell the car, just reconnect the wire? Im talking in reference to the door chime wire of course.

I'm not worried about needing to reverse the key reminder mod. If I ever were to sell, (which would be many years from now) I doubt anyone would even notice the missing chime sound. If they did, there's a good chance they would like it.

:iagree: The other feature that makes the chime 'not necessary' IMHO is the lock protection. If you attempt to lock the door with the key in it automatically unlocks the door.

For me, I am far less likely to lock the keys in the car now. I can't tell you how many times I've open the door, pulled the keys to quiet the chime then locked the door and walked away with the keys in the cupholder. I did it so often that I have a non-chipped Hide-a-key on all my cars. I haven't used the Hide-a-key since I've done the mod.
