Should I for this 2016?

I was fiddling around at a dealership and this caught my eye.

2016 SR5 4WD, 49,000, black, cloth inside, for $26,900

there is a black 16 same just less miles 35,000 at $27,500 w/nav and
there's a 17 blue and 17 red for $28,500 both with 35,000. I figure $2000 isn't that much of a difference in the end game - or is it?

I'm not a big fan of black or cloth but this seemed like a decent price, just not sure.

I have a 3Gen so don't know alot about the newer ones and the suggestion was to come here and seek advice/input.

What do y'all think and issues I need to look for?

They look to be rental vehicles, but the price is not bad at all. Especially considering they are certified. I'd probably go for a lower mileage one.

I would be a little concerned about rental vehicles, even with an extended warranty.

Go with the newest, lowest mileage 4R, in the color you prefer.

Always haggle for a lower price...

Cool thing with certified pre-owned is that you get 12 month bumper to bumper and 60k power train on top of whatever mileage it already has on it. That should give you some peace of mind. Also, haggle for a lower price as mentioned above. If they won't budge, ask for 24 months of maintenance.

If they're CPO, the warranty should cover the uncertainty of what may break when. On the mileage and price, the higher mileage has already taken the depreciation hit. How long do you want to keep it and what do you want to do with it?

*Plus, the issue for moving into the 5th gen, for most people, is power/acceleration. Test it and see if it feels right.

The price tag was appealing but I wasn't willing to stomach the risk of a rental. It is tough to quantify, but if you can put a dollar amount to your "assumption of risk" I think that will help you in your decision. Getting something with lower miles will definitely help lower risk but how close will get to a new 4Runner's price tag? Hopefully, you'll have the opportunity to haggle. The miles aren't as concerning as the drivers who used the vehicle. At least, that's how I see it.

Those prices look fair to me.. Nothing wrong with a rental...

Check to see if it has the updated airbag. Ask specifically about future recall for passenger side Takata airbag. Get it in writing. You might be able to use that to get the price down a bit. Some 2016s got the update others have to wait and then be replaced after some time in service (which won't cost you anything but is a hassle)

Paula Toyota just took in a 2015 (I think) lease return. They called me about it yesterday but I didn’t call back as I already picked on up.
It’s not on their site yet but call and talk to Kara for info about it.

I had the same issues when trying to find mine. All the used ones around us are previous rentals. I just couldn’t do it.

Bought mine from Lombard Toyota. Really good to work with and I was able to grind them on price quite a bit. If you call them, ask for Larry.

Yeah...good call....the '17 Red/Blue sounds like a good idea....also they can wrap those seats with the P "leather"...for about 1,000-1,200....maybe squeeze that into the 28.5 price.

In my experience Katskinz aftermarket leather is even nicer than factory.. both good options though if you don't want cloth.

Save your money and buy a new one. I’ve inspected too many “Pre-Owned” cars that weren’t properly maintained. With a new one you’ll know what kind of vehicle your driving. Instead of buying one that may have been abused by the previous owner. Most Pre-Owned cars are usually bought at auction and then sold at dealers. Just make sure you ask for service records from a reputable repair facility.
