I have the opportunity to buy the 1998 Limited that I have coveted for 18 years. It has belonged to a good friend for all of those 18 years, and now he's finally ready to sell...
It has 275,400 miles. Lived in TX its whole life. I have full service records. Michelins with tons of tread left. Weathertec floor mats, 1 year old. Cargo cover. Yakima roof rack.

The front rotors are warped badly and the right rear axle seal is leaking. Beyond that, very good shape.

Friend price of $2,500...should I do it?

Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's.......4runner? If you have had a real jonesing for it for that long, then by all means, especially since you know the history of it.

Hell yes. When someone spends the money on Michelins for a vehicle that old, you can bet that this is a tidy vehicle.

Friend price for the win. You would be shocked and appalled to know how much I paid for a lower mileage '02 in Colorado.

My apologies...they are so unevenly worn or whatever that the vehicle shakes pretty violently when braking...

Damn iv seen some 3rd gen 2wd runners here in co with under 200k for the same price they must be more desirable out there iv always though a 2wd runner would be a cool fun daily

Not a bad price. Probably well kept. The rotors are easy to DIY. The rear axle seals aren't as easy to DIY. Both should be given attention promptly.

Um yes they do, especially AZ or AAP or OR rotors. no big deal just machine them true again.

They don't warp. It's from getting hot. Then stopping before they cool. Pad material is left on that portion of rotor causing a pulse. You turn them and it removes the material. No turning would unwarp a rotor.

JayRolla is correct. However, there are cases of actual warpage on track cars, but that's usually a failure to properly warm up the rotors.
