Oh yeah, I have KDSS too, so I don't know if that helps smooth the ride out. They feel fine on the road and even better on the dirt.

BFG MT KM2's are supposed to be some of the lightest offroad tires.

Thanks Harper. So far I'm loving it. TE should come with KM2's stock in my opinion. The looks alone would move inventory. I'm going to hit little sahara this weekend, I'll let you know how they do in the sand/mud.

I went to the Tireracks site to confirm weights. According to their specs, the Dura Tracs were the lightest.I was wrong about the MT KM2's being the lightest.
Here are some popular 265/70/17 offroad tire comparisons from the Tirerack site. I tried to match them all E rated.They are all pretty close in weight really.

GY Dura Tracs - 50lbs.
General Grabbers AT2 - 52lbs.
BFG MT KM2 - 54lbs
BFG AT KO - 55lbs
GY MT/R Kevlar - 55lbs.
Firestone Destination MT - 55lbs

I'm wondering if you could go as wide as 18 rims with 18" tires on the 4 runner without a lift ?

I was thinking of getting 18" rims, and putting on 18" Goodyear Duratracs but don't know if these sizes will fit without a lift ?

Please tell me your impressions of the General Grabber At2. How is the ride, noise level, and how much was your fuel economy effected? This is my biggest concern with these tires as they are quite heavy.

These shoes are certainly more appealing to the eye than the stock Dunlops. It's kinda like a marine wearing ballet slippers (stock tires) but then you take off those slippers and you upgrade him to steel-toed combat boots and now it just feels right and fits the overall picture .

The ride is GREAT! I have noticed no difference in ride. It is just as smooth as with the stock shoes, granted I've only driven 15 miles with the new Grabber AT2s so I will have to report back with more info.

Noise level is about the same as with stock shoes, if not SLIGHTLY more than before. But honestly, I cannot tell the difference in road noise, especially with the radio/music on at a moderately low volume.

As far as fuel economy goes, I'm not sure. For some reason my dash was displaying 13.3 mpg avg at 70miles on the odometer. I don't know if this is an error/problem w/ the truck or if this is normal with the first tank. So... to answer your question about fuel, I'm not sure but the tread on this tire is not so incredibly 'knobby' that I would expect a significant decrease (>2mpg) in gas mileage just from the change in tires alone. I'll have to report back on this issue as well.

One thing that ABSOLUTELY drew me to these tires over the others (BFG AT TA KO, Toyo Open Country M/T, etc...) was the price. At just under $137 per tire, these All-Terrain shoes are a steal!! Especially a steal since the reviews are pretty decent for this tire.

I agree that the tires are pretty darn heavy, but so far (for the 6 hours that I've had them on the truck) I'm a happy cowboy. :cowboy:

BFG's are pretty damn expensive and loud so thats a con -1, but they last forever and are great off-road +1... Altogether I might experiment with something new in 70 or 80 or 100 thousand miles

They look pretty good.

No way your going to see 70,000 out of them, especially if you take it offroad.

I love LWN's BFG AT TA KOs. Are they snow rated tires as well? Also, I tried to get my dealership do the exchange and charge me the difference like LWN did but, they wouldn't do it. My new TE has 5 miles on it. Do you think there is a tire store that will give me a credit for what is on there now?

i got $100 per tire for the yokohama on the limited from discount tire...i got a sweet deal though(the guy messed up by telling me $100 then i made him stick with what he said because his manager tried to give me $75)....im sure you could get $75-$100 per tire on a trade in at discount tire....shoot for $100 though.

Also they will price match any price you find on the internet. I found the Nittos for $177 + $90 S/H and they matched that price. Right there save me $80. Hope this helps and good luck

i just left the spare as is....i got the protection plan for the tires (like $20 per tire) which will replace the tire if damaged..(nails...etc) so i figure that will cover any spare problem

We are taking a trip from MD to FL at the end of June so, I an guessing that I will want a spare that is the same size no? But, will it fit in the spare tire area if I go with a BFG 275-70-R17 tire.

I have called 3 different tire sales places in my area (Mr. Tire, NTB, and GoodYear). All of them have recommended against putting BFG LT275/70R17/E tires on my vehicle. Anyone know why? They claim it could mess with all the computer controlled stuff.

I learned something today. ;-) The reason the tire places are recommending that I go with the BFG LT265/70R17 instead of the BFG LT275/70R17 is because the 265 is available in the "C" load-rating and the 275 is only available in the "E" load rating.

They told me that the 275 is only 10mm wider than the 265 and I won't be able to tell the difference. Thoughts?
