I had these tires on a Jeep Cherokee and they were great, quiet on the highway and still handled moderate off-roading well, even in Georgia Clay.

Just got new tires but it seems to be sitting lower than my stock tire/wheels.
Do you think I should get larger tires.

Do you have any other pics of your 4Runner with the FJ wheels on it? I'm trying to see how much more flush the FJ wheels are with the fenders. Does it make a visible difference (give it a wider stance) over the OEM wheels?
My buddy just got an 2010 SR5 and I want to sell him my FJ wheels, but he's looking for something that will give him a wider stance. I agree with him that the OEM wheels are set too far inward and would look better pushed out to the sides.
No offense, but those tires on those wheels remind me of a ballerina wearing football cleats. Maybe if you put the white letter in they might look better. The sidewall profile is too small as it is!!

Yes, a 285/70R17 will fit on a stock Trail Edition (no lift or spacers) provided you do the wheel well mod LWN described on page #1 of this thread. This was a super easy mod to do while the truck was on the lift at the tire shop. Once you trim a little plastic away to allow the plastic wheel well liners to move forward ~1/2", I'd recommend running the screw directly through the plastic to ensure it stays in place.
I mounted a set of 285/70R17 Goodyear Silent Armors a month ago on my TE and they are working like champs so far. No rubbing that I've experienced so far (with 3k miles on them now). I will say that I haven't taken them off highway yet so the suspension hasn't seen full travel at all, but so far, so good. The only potential rub issue I see under full compression would be on the passenger side -- Toyota conveniently mounted the windshield washer reservior on at the front of the wheel well (eventhough there is ample space under the hood to have placed it elsewhere). It is the only thing that prevents moving the wheel well liner forward any further on that side.
Last thought, Goodyear does make these 285s in a P rating for those that aren't hauling heavy loads and want a "smoother" ride compared to an E rated tire. Also, the P's were a bit cheaper (and lighter) per wheel. I do have my eyes on a set of Duratrac's once the snow starts falling in a few months, though I had Silent Armors on my old 2002 T4R Sport and they got me up and down Little Cottonwood with ease on snorkel days at Alta and the Bird...

KM2s are looking awesome...
How are the KM2 doing? I'm concerned with how they drive and do on roads, highway and in the rain. Can you give me your thoughts please?

I have 13,000 miles on my KM2's so far.
They have been great in heavy gully washer rains but I have full time 4x4 which helps with the front wheels pulling too.
However,On the highway....If your worried about road noise,lumpy feeling at low speed and losing a few mpg..... Then they are not for you.
If you want them to go anywhere off road from mud to sand to rocks ,that is where they really shine. They have exceeded all my expections and then some offroad and couldn't ask for anything better,especially the trust and confidence ,20 miles back off the beaten path. I will most likely buy them again,maybe in 35's next time, but they definitely are not for everyone.

Speaking of tires....General has the "New Grabbers" out with the red letters now like the ones on the 4Runner TE that ran the Baja 1000.

Like Harper said, they are at home off road. However, I once swerved violently on the freeway with them and was able to regain control. They are certainly no street tire, but they do OK. I recently loaded them up to 45 psi from 32, due to reading on another thread about LT's. I managed to get 20 mpg at one point, which is up from maybe 17.5 at 32 psi. I have taken them on many long drives. Last week, I took them up to the Tetons and Glacier. Drove for 7 hours back in constant rain and they were ok around 70 mph on Montana backroads.
I will get them again, they are very strong, though I was also considering the Grabber's for the sake of fuel economy at one point. My plan is 305's with ATX artillery wheels once these wear down or I can sell them.
Speaking of the Tetons and Glacier:
There were 3 mountain lions, but the other 2 ran away before I could get a shot...
