Ideally referring to the mods which are not entirely common, IE, you need some background to pull it off. No headlight HID mods, I'm talking huge jobs.

Mine isn't as impressive or the typical off road type that the majority of you guys are going for but I made my red '98 SR5 with brown interior into a black '01-'02 Sport Edition with a black interior.

I lost most of the pics of the Buick V6/TH-350 auto trans swap in a computer crash. These are some from the later frame and body swap.

Here's how my 97 started out.

First thing was a complete interior conversion, from gray to tan.

That included swapping seats from an infiniti QX4 in.

Did the 4wd conversion with manual hubs too.

Working on making it look like an 02 Limited one thing at a time.

my swap was in a 1st gen truck...

also, it was done before computers/forums were prevalent. I think I had windows 98, AOL dial-up on a 56k modem, and a 2MP digital camera that would take about 20 pictures before the batteries died.hoto:

I have literally ZERO pictures of my swap.

but the gist of it is in my sig. 85 Toyota truck. I swapped in a 1968 ford 302, and c4 auto. I ran that for a few years, then i swapped in dual transfer cases.

So just some quick details on it.

My motor had been missing for about 8 months on 2 cylinders. Badly. Had horrible compression. And being young and stupid, I bought it with excessive blow by not having a clue what it was pr where it would end up at. Anyways....

Got a jdm motor, from jdm engine zone out of clifton new jersey. Pir hased on ebay via the make an offer option. Basically got it for 1250 shipped to western pa. Pretty good to deal with. Good communication on ebay. Extremely fast shipping. 3 business days from purchase and it was in my garage. And kost importantly a great motor.

It was from a hiace mini van so some parts needed to be swapped, which I got from the donor 4runner. Things like the ac mount, the fan pulley, the oil cooler, the exhaust manifolds, and the throttle body. Did this without my 4runner being down wjich worked out great.

I swapped the 5 speed in at the same time. Really quite simple, especially when already pulling the motor. Went with a new aisin clutch kit. I also switched from a push buttin transfer case to a j shuft transfer case. Wiring was easi, y the hardest part, but was really jot hard at all. Just took time and patience. And the exact wiring diagrams. [MENTION=84972]danthemanx07[/MENTION] AND [MENTION=10169]TheDurk[/MENTION] were instrumental in helping me here because I had never tackled something like this. But really with there help to bounce ideas off of, its not hard to figure out at all.

Afterthoughts.....its amazing and well worth it. My 4runner no lpnger shakes like an 80's diesel. Its got power. It doesn bog out on hills. Thw five speed has gotten me up to 18 mpg while driving it like a sports car. Its actually quote quick now with the manual. And it is sooooo much fun to drive.

Every time I get in and drive it around I am still amazed that I pulled this off. I didnt screw it up!
