Question: I ordered my set without the gas tank skid because I already have the Lil' Skip's - does the transfer case skid rely on the front flange of the Shrockworks gas tank skid for any alignment? In other words, would I somehow have to shim the rear of the t-case skid by some thickness, ~3/16"?

Having the gas skid flange there does help provide extra clearance between the t-case and the skid, but its not required.

If you wanted some extra room between the skid and the case, you could do as you mentioned and shim it or simply swap the front flange of the t-case so that it sits below the transmission skid rather than being sandwiched between it ant the frame.

Heres a pic from the other end...starting at the gas tank skid! I loved this kit...all five pieces! Very easy to install. Looks great...can't wait to abuse them this summer :lol:

Sorry Sir...I can't help you on this one. I have a ShrockWorks front Bumper also. Hopefully someone with a stock bumper will chime in and be able to help!!

Just wondering...have you attempted to contact ShrockWorks and present them with this question? The reason I asked...everyone that I have spoken with at ShrockWorks, has been quite helpful and very easy to talk/work with! I'm sure if they don't know the answer...they would be happy to find the answer for you.

Thanks for Ruhr response Russ. I haven't contacted schrockworks yet. I don't have my skids on yet either. Between a new job and a new babyI've neglected my 4runner. I'm also going to pout in a new steering rack before I install the skids

A new bumper is in the plans, but mayabe a year out.

I like them. Comparded to my Budbuilts they cover less but also weigh less (~12 lbs less then the bud combo, does not include the gas tank skid). OiL changes can also be done leaving the skids on even at a dealership. The buds you would have to remove which got tiring. I dont wheel on the crazy stuff but I have taken two light hits on the front and one harder hit on the gas tank skid. They are well made and are holding up well.

+1 I run a complete long travel rear setup and even with my panhard adjusted almost all the way in i still contact. I'm very curious if this will help with clearance

I'm on a stock panhard with LC long travel stuff in the rear and I get very slight contact when I'm stuffing the driver side tire all the way. The driveshaft hits the bolts that hold the bracket on right at the U joint in the shaft by the rear diff. You can see the bolts in RussToy's picture.

I've been meaning to contact Shrockworks about it, but haven't had the time yet.

You should not use the oem engine skid to jack up the truck. The jacking point up front is the crossmember

The OEM skid just deflects a little and then you are jacking on the cross-member. Works fine.

They will fit with the 1" diff drop pucks that most people run.

I’ve got your full set of skids; have beat the absolute crap out of them and they’re holding up great. In regard to your comment about compatibility with 1” diff drop, I’ve got a diff drop and the bottom of my front diff mounts just touch the inside of the radiator skid. I was get a clunking noise on acceleration/deceleratio but it went away when I removed the skid (had a hunch that might be issue). Even though I’ve got an Addicted Off-Road front bumper, which mounts to the stock recovery points, and therefore per your instructions doesn’t need 1/4” shims, would it be okay to install your provided 1/4” shims to see if that gives me better clearance for the diff drop and eliminates the clunking? Getting longer bolts for proper thread engagement if need be, of course.
