Shrockworks appears to be out of business.

I created a FB burner account to follow storm damage in an area that I have a property and the all-knowing algorithm hooked me up with this info.

RIP to another small 3rd Gen Fab company.

That's wild. There's a company that seems to have dropped the ball on custom headlight orders. Can't think of the name at the moment but if I heard it, I could verify. There's a thread on it here in the 3rd gen section, too. I don't have personal experience with either company, but the reviews seem to really be disheartening.

I'm not a business person, but it seems to be rather a simple concept not to take on more than you can handle. You're taking people's money and the people aren't receiving their product for months on months on months. Sounds like atrocious business practices to me and I would have nothing to do with them.

That's quite unfortunate. My rear bumper of theirs is really well made. I'd been meaning to contact them about getting a replacement latch, but I guess that's out of the question now.

Lets be real - too much business/orders do Not kill a business.

Poor business practices such as taking too much money out for one's self or others stealing from it is a far more likely scenario.

If they had too much business, a good business would simply hire more folks, wouldn't you?

Have you not seen the hiring crisis we are in with the economy right now? My company has been struggling hard to keep up with the business our business development department has been bringing in. I'm responsible partly for training new hires and it's tough finding good labor right now. Things are exacerbated even worse by the crazy inflation rates we are seeing right now. It's getting rather hard for companies to provide adequate pay for the skill required for a job.

I think you're thinking of bxbuilt headlights. Which is a poor business model that prioritizes people with online clout over everyone else, makes no attempt to appease their customers, and even has the nerve to email people that have been waiting months to see if they want to pay extra in order to get their headlights sooner. Combine that with rumors of shutting their facility down for multiple days for holidays and even a week for a wedding and it paints a poor picture of their business management and business model.

This. I tell people this all the time. I mean The only exception I would say for current time would be if they just literally could not hire people. My last company had an extremely hard time hiring project managers; took them over a year just to hire one PM.

Shrockworks often had a 3-month lead time, even pre-COVID. It clearly isn't a COVID or recent thing. It is a horrible problem in the off-road world in general... take $$$ early, take too long to deliver, run out of $$$ in the mean time and go out of business.

I have no idea of the specifics of this instance though. I am glad I got my front bumper and sliders from them years ago though... good quality though long lead time.

Should not be too hard to find a similar replacement , I do not remember the company who makes them off hand / ATM.

Sure people know there are still several option out there but it's never good to have reduced choice and industry consolidation. Quality generally goes down and price goes up along with lead times.

YES, that is exactly who I'm thinking of. And you literally could not have said it any better. I see it allllll over Instagram, the folks with online clout repping those headlights and such. That is poor, poor customer service. And the audacity to ask their customers if they want to pay additional fees to have their orders bumped up? What kind of joke is that? All the more reason I would never deal with a company like that. That's just sad.

Additionally, what is Shrockworks going to do with the money from their sales that haven't been fulfilled yet? Are they reimbursing their customers?

That might be the best course of action. As it would solve the issues at hand.. :)

Yes - it is the craziest thing that folks simply do not want to work. Read an article the other day saying there are 7 Million males in the US that do not seek employment. Just lazy?

My only question is, how do they survive, off their parents? This is a 21st century problem, don't recall there not being enough workers in the past...

Too much business can easily kill a company, and hiring more people isn't the answer to fixing the issue. There's a lot more involved when trying to take on additional business than workforce, and your workforce is about 25% of the issue.

Doubtful! They're most likely in debt to creditors for various reason, and assets/cash will most likely be sold to pay them off. Assuming they're filing for bankruptcy.

Savage is the only company with a well-planned, graceful exit that I can think of over the last several years. Orders were fulfilled and integrity kept intact (as far as i know). After they shut down they still replied to my inquiries about obtaining product.

Every generation has this complaint about the younger generation. All you can do is take care of yourself and family and leave the "kids these days" complaints out of it. The "kids" won't listen anyway - until they get old enough to complain about those younger than them. Reward the good behavior and ignore the bad...

There have been plenty of times in history where it is hard to get good workers. Probably the whole time. The employer-employee relationship is inherently adversarial...

(I say this as someone who has been in many understaffed departments through my career - open positions take 6+ months to fill generally and have for the last 20+ years)

As for the off road fabrication industry? It is filled with passionate people who are really bad at business. Bad $$$ choices, bad $$$ management, bad time management/planning, bad client management, etc. It happens in all "passion" industries (I'm in the music industry myself - same deal).

I know is certain areas of the United States, its rough from all the major issues in the last 5 years. A pile of small business did not survive the when they tried to shut down the world. Lots of folks wouldn't understand how small businesses work unless they are involved in it as its a pile of issues as to why things go south.

Granted, I think everyone is hoping for better years ahead. I know being a small business owner myself, It would be a great thing if things stabilize. The currency would be worth something. Supply chains functioning normally and people were generally considerate to each other again. Lots of people fell for the division tactics and focus their attention on other things then what they should have been. Its a very old tactic to control the public. We definitely live in interesting times for sure.

Maybe things will get better for this vendor and folks will get their products or they will offer refunds.

I know I got burnt when a client of mine filed bankruptcy. All Vendors did not paid. Then when they came out of they still wanted service and I wasn't going to loose any more time and money on that customer. ;/
