Sick of people dinging my doors in apt parking lot. Need rock sliders!

Live in an apartment complex where no one gives a sh*t about their cars or other people's belongings. Looking for the best/cheapest option for rock sliders which are decently built and durable to withstand other car doors flying into my 4Runner everyday. Scratches everywhere! And no, there are no other places to park. What are your suggestions? *I have searched around quite a bit and have found sliders $600+... not looking to spend that much on these, and I do 95% highway driving vs. off road. Any ideas? Thanks!

Look for used OEM steps. They stick out farther than most sliders and are cheaper. I will say that sliders or steps do help with this though. I had metal tech double bump sliders on my FJ. They stuck out a good 6 inches and there were plenty of door marks and paint on them after a year.

I have never really enjoyed the look of this, but this is now a solution that I had never thought of... will look into this!

I've got the C4 Fab sliders and you can see little chips all down the side where doors have hit but no dings on my sheetmetal. One old lady got out of her car and let the door fly. Made a loud sound that I heard as I was walking back to the truck. She saw me looking and she first looked to see if she dinged me. Then she saw the U dent in her door edge, touched it, got huffy, slammed her door and walked away.

I have the tube-shaped running boards that stick out pretty far. I'm sure they protect against door dings from some cars, but if the door is higher than the running board, it hits my door. My wife's VW bug, for example, is just a bit higher than the running board and if I'm not careful getting out of her car in the garage, I'll ding my own door!

The only 100% fool-proof solution is to find a place to park well away from chumps.

I would love to see a rundown of how far sliders stick out from the round part of the door. My main motivation for buying a set is door protection (and educating parking lot morons via dings in their own doors from my sliders). Until I purchase a set I just park ridiculously far away from other cars.

If only it were that easy. Where I live, there are limited spaces outside and I "think" the lines were brought together closer to accommodate the most amount of spaces for cars. But I agree - my main motivation for buying a set is door protection as well!

I'm originally from Long Island... that has been a recent doing in the last few years, for anyone who owns a nice car and has to parallel park in tight spaces. You'd be surprised by how common it is there for people to kind of "bounce" off each other's bumpers to parallel park because there is just so many damn cars and not enough room for all of them! It's super helpful especially if you live or commute to NYC/Queens, etc.

I have RCI sliders and noticed a very small ding in my driver door. Key is to run the sliders AND lift it high enough so most doors hit the sliders. My biggest worry seems to be SUV rear doors that poke out. As ugly as the door moldings are, they probably work the best for the money. Sliders aren't cheap.

Here is what it looks like with C4 Fab sliders. The level is placed against crown of door and is vertical. The level is also 2" wide. So for the front door, they stick out about 1.5" beyond the door crown and for the rear door about 2" or more depending on where you check.

You could try going around to everybody's cars and install a small rubber seal to their door's lip for damage prevention. They may not even notice.

Amazon, Tyger Side Armor. Paid 290.00 on Amazon. These looks like rock slider. Great for protecting door rings. They stick out past the wheels and they are textured. I just put these on and they look awesome. I did not need the true rock sliders.
