I cant tell you how many times its made my day, to watch some idiot park to close to you, and then you get to witness them smash their door into your sliders or you get to see the mark they left on their vehicle after the fact. for that, its worth having even if you dont use them as sliders lol

I've got the C4 Fab sliders and you can see little chips all down the side where doors have hit but no dings on my sheetmetal. One old lady got out of her car and let the door fly. Made a loud sound that I heard as I was walking back to the truck. She saw me looking and she first looked to see if she dinged me. Then she saw the U dent in her door edge, touched it, got huffy, slammed her door and walked away.

So she was mad at you because she dented her door? I see this every day. People pull up super close and then fling their door open all the way before they even look to see how close they are to another vehicle. Most people don’t really care about their vehicles and they certainly don’t care if they damage other vehicles.

I love this. I was sitting in a parking lot in Bishop getting ready to go into a Starbucks when this woman pulls up next to me, opens her door and I hear a loud bang into my sliders. My buddy looks out the window and starts laughing at her and noting that she just taco'd the lip of her door. She deserved it.

Live in an apartment complex where no one gives a sh*t about their cars or other people's belongings. Looking for the best/cheapest option for rock sliders which are decently built and durable to withstand other car doors flying into my 4Runner everyday. Scratches everywhere! And no, there are no other places to park. What are your suggestions? *I have searched around quite a bit and have found sliders $600+... not looking to spend that much on these, and I do 95% highway driving vs. off road. Any ideas? Thanks!

You need to look at how far the different sliders stick out on the side. Some are real tight to the rocker panel and honestly, I've seen rock carnage on doors above these tight fitting sliders. I like to use mine as a step too. I got the Demello sliders and I like them a lot. Wait until Thanksgiving and the Black Friday sales and you'll get 20% off - that's what I did. I don't know that you'll find any for under $600 new. Check the for sale thread here as eventually everything turns up.

Without lift no slider of any design will protect your doors from dings unless everyone else in your town drives a low slung sports car. Most pickup and SUV drivers will ding your doors. If this is the only reason you need Rock Sliders then you don't need them. Sry for sour in your honey but think about it...

Bought mine more for off-roading, but lately this has become a common thing with me too. Mine should be shipping from C4 around the first or second week of November.

People don't respect anything anymore. I've been sitting in my 4R, with the windows down, car off, and people have hit the door and couldn't even say a simple sorry. Yeah I'd still be irritated, but at least they would have apologized. Nope, these people continue on like nothing happen, which usually causes me to say something smart.

Shat's Bakery in Bishop, CA is a prime place to meet these people. Can't wait to go there next year with the sliders on. Let the denting of their doors commence.

I've found the sliders to be very effective on two vehicles I've had that were not lifted. Current 4Runner and a Wrangler Rubicon. Both have yet to get dings in about 200k combined miles, yet my wife's '18 CrossTrek already has one at less than 4000 miles.

In my anecdotal experience, I find cars to be the worst offenders when it comes to dings.

1) Most of the older & "don't care" demographics drive cars because easier to get in and out of/cheap/etc. With cars, you have to open the doors wider to get in and out of them because lower to the ground and your legs have to go out a bit further.

2) With SUVs/trucks, you don't have to open doors as wide because you are in a more vertical position getting in and out. Therefore, I think that is why I don't usually get the dings up high on the body. Yet, there are several dings/scratches on the slider tubes.

To me, the sliders are a worthy investment for steps and protection and I have yet to actually slide them over a large rock or stump.:thumb:

Here is what it looks like with C4 Fab sliders. The level is placed against crown of door and is vertical. The level is also 2" wide. So for the front door, they stick out about 1.5" beyond the door crown and for the rear door about 2" or more depending on where you check.

Mine is lifted 2.5" and I have C4 sliders. Got dinged by a mustang, and this dude was clearly a repeat offender.

I have witnessed people opening their doors into my sliders, and I see the chips on them as evidence. I thought it was a neat bonus to the other functions that sliders serve. But, don't kid yourself, it's just a matter of time and circumstance -- sliders are not door guards.
