I'm actually using the d2 spots on my truck right now as well. I'm trying to find a configuration that works best for me and I wanted to see if my spots would throw the light further then my driving d2s and they do. The spots put the light just in front of the fenders off the sides and the driving fills the area from the side mirror to the end of the fender.
Cover less area yes, but they also have a further throw so with the position of my ditch brackets the flood lights cover the area hidden by my side mirrors and hidden behind my a pillar and only a small area off the fender. The spots can actually hit further in front of the runner and out to the side to help with cornering a lot more. I've used about 4 different set ups and I still haven't found my perfect setup yet but this is just what I've learned from what I've tried.
I've used baja's squadron and squadron pros and rigid's spot, flood, wide, and driving pods. Currently I have my rigid spots on the outside and baja squadron pros on the inside and my rigid flood pods have been re-purposed as turn signals. I also have a set of piaa 520's converted to HID as my fogs and the 42" bar above the windshield.
where did you remount your radio antenna?

Yeah that was the reason I got the double was to pair different lenses to get the most coverage I could. The ditch mounts themselves are the cbi ones and the extension is made by Rago. You can get the whole set up by Rago as well I just already had the cbi ones. I'm getting some hyper spots from that group buy you signed up for yesterday and hopefully some xl80's from the mint 300 group buy which are going to be insanely bright at 9500 lumens per pod! Can't wait to see what that setup looks like.
The difference between the dually and the d2 is only the optics in front of it. The dually uses hybrid and comes in spot or flood and the d2 uses specter and comes in driving, wide or hyper spot and both come in diffused. The extension just bolts on, I used the hardware for the lights to hold it.

The squadron pros I have are the same optics essentially as the driving d2's they just put out more lumens. I'd say get the hyper spots for the inside ones to limit glare off your hood and spots or floods for the outside ones. I want those d-ss ones too! Just not sure how much light they actually throw off the sides, would probably be a lot less then what I have considering I have an entire pod dedicated to side light.
My ditch lights are always on. I adjust them for off road use but the way they are now they light up the road very well and help see things more clearly. They won't distract a driver beside me unless that driver is literally on my side mirror.
That is something to consider, the Side shooters may be better in a bumper mounted application.
