Silver 4runners (pics)

Does anyone feel that the stock silver 4R is just too much of the same color? I guess that applies to any color they come in, but I'm mainly interested in silver so that's why I ask. I just saw a new freshly washed black one at the dealer last week and it was stunning to look at, but silver is sooooo much easier to keep looking clean.

What feels like many years ago, there were accent colors on cars, whether it was chrome bumpers, different colored door handles, or whatever. Now almost every square inch of a vehicle is the same color. If I do get a silver 4R (TRD-OR), I feel like I'll need to add some accent color to it. I've never plasti-dipped anything before, but perhaps changing the bumper accent color to black, and maybe the rear spoiler and hood scoop insert.

Have any of you silver owners done anything like this?

With silver I hardly see the pin striping when I hit the trails and also it's waaaaay easier to keep clean

I really liked the trail version in silver when the 5th gen first came out. The fender flares and door handles were black and it looked really sharp like that.

^^Spot on^^ The best looking 5th gen by far was the silver '10-'13 Trail. I wanted to get that color in 2010 but we were trading a silver Sport edition and wifey didn't want the same color as the one we just had so we went with MG and the black fender flares barely showed the contrast. I was hoping the black fender flares would come back towards the end of the run. Now we have an '18 TRD classic silver and it looks a little blah.

I’ve never seen one up close...were those black fender flares painted or just black plastic?

Lots of folks accent their silver 4Runners, usually with plastic-dip or paint, but vinyl wrap is another option, depending on what parts you want to color. Black seems to be the most common choice for accent color, but of course that's entirely up to you.

I did gunmetal accents on mine to match the wheels, and a little Inferno here and there because I stl had touch up paint left from my Pro Tacoma. I'm happy with it.

Have only had the car for 11 days, loving it.. but I did have some annoyances to fix before I could start focusing on lifts and tires.

Here are 2 parking lot pictures at our local Walmart.

Crazy amount of wild fire smoke in the air here in BC.
