Skids...

TE!

I was wondering from the guys who have skids... Are you guys also getting the gas tank & rear diff skid? I do not plan on doing much rock crawling but would like the engine, trans & transfer case skids for peace of mind. Just getting ideas on what everyone else is doing.

I do have an OME lift with 4x4 labs front bumper.

I have a full set from RCI. I have the gas tank skid but no diff skid. Have some love bites in all of mine. The diff is still looking good. I'd say, if you aren't going to crawl it, you can prob just run the stock TE gas skid and a naked rear diff. I beat mine to heck last week. Had to space down the t-case skid after bending it up and getting an exhaust vibration. Good thing I had the armor is all I can say! Also, if you aren't going to crawl you may want the aluminum ones to save weight.

The diff is one of the lowest points on your chassis and not cheap to replace, especially if you have an e-locker.

Thanks for the info Ben! I am probably going to go with the Bud Built aluminum skids since he is a short drive from Charlotte, NC. Your pics from Moab are unbelievable!

That is what I was thinking as well because I do have the e-locker.

If any of you are interested in selling your stock full gas tank skid plate I am interested. My 14 limited just came with a partial skid plate.

I picked up the front, trans and T case skids from RCI Metalworks group buy in April. After a few trails the last few months I am very glad I have them.
Ordered a RCI gas tank skid today and wish I had ordered it when they had the group buy, stock TE skid is pretty beat up. I will be willing to sell it but it has been smashed on a bit.

OP, I'd say if you are going to do any rock crawling or somewhat difficult trails go for all skids.

RCI Metalworks, full skid package. Started with just the filler plate, oil, gas tank skids. I liked the fit, finish, and quality so much that I immediately ordered transmission and transfer case skids as well.

Can you post a picture of the beat up skid? I may still be interested.
