Slider options for LE

Confused after reading the forum about sliders for my LE. Shrockworks has a modification that for a chunk of $$$ will allow their sliders to fit an LE. But other companies, like BudBuilt and MetalTech...I'm confused as to whether sliders for an SR5 will fit a Limited Edition. Other LE owners wanna chime in for their step/slider recs? Not much rock crawling for me. Mostly want a place for my sons to step up into dad's ride. They are 6 and 5 and have a hard enough time at the stock height so when I add 2" they are really gonna need something for climbing. Might as well be something that looks cool and offers some protection on trails.

In that case I would save my money, forget the sliders and just get the factory running boards if you are just driving on dirt trails.

What's different underneath an LE other than XREAS, does XREAS impede slider installation just curious.

XREAS has lines that run along the sides of the frame, they are held by screws that are bolted to the frame. If the manufacture of the slider doesn't take these measurements into consideration than you would have to do some major welding modification for the sliders to fit.

The best part is 2010 LE through 2013 are not necessary the same, even in the LE. The bolts can be in different places, like a couple inches up or left etc..

I thought the lines were tucked up enough not to cause issues like that had no idea, good to know.

I suppose if one wants sliders on an LE they might ditch the XREAS and suspension lift the truck anyway lol...

I believe Shrockworks fit LE's with XREAS still on but you have to remove or replace the stock rocker panels. 5th Generation 4Runner Rock Sliders

Correct:

The shop usually takes the proper measurements if they are aiming to make it XREAS ready. In the case of the White Knuckle off road, John had the correct fitment and fit like a glove :thumb:

Can't wait for these! I am in need of some type of step for the wife and kid to be able to get into the 4runner with ease. The metal tech sliders caught my eye.

Most manufacturers you can request bolt-on gussets from.

Like these:

My Shrockworks sliders didn't have them in all required places, so I had to move one of my XREAS lines a bit.

Details are in my build thread, but in most cases it's not a major deal to get resolved.

If you are buying sliders to function as a "cool" step; you may be dissapointed. They are close up to the truck and unless you get the ones with a step welded on (can't remember off hand who all does these) or the more runningboard-like ones from Slee Offroad, they will not help much from a step standpoint. Actually, my wife hates my sliders because they don't help her get in or out and when she slides out of the truck, her pants hit the sliders and might get dirty.

If you are not planning on doing any serious trail riding, you might be more pleased with regular running boards.
