sliders for '06 4wd 4runner

does anyone know a good company that makes sliders for a 2006 4wd 4runner? ken at hanna quality has said he will not make sliders for the 2006. (and yes, the 2006 is different from the 2005 as far as fitting sliders)

please help and advise!

I was wondering the same thing. I suppose since the trim at the bottom of the doors was thickened on the 06, it might conflict with how close the sliders fit. I would imagine it would be easy for a manufacturer to alter the design slightly, but who knows.

i found a company that will make a great set of sliders for the '06. this was actually a result of another suggestion from Thai concerning the transfer skid plate.

a company called stubbs welding will do it. the guys name is richard and he is very nice and helpful. this is the same gentleman who is working with teotwaki on the tcs plate.

I just purchased a set from him, the deluxe ones. He installed them for me. Richard is a super cool guy.

Thanks Bluto! Last night when I was doing my research, I came across the Shrockworks sliders, too. Since they only show sliders on 05 and earlier 4th gens, I emailed them to find out if they make them for 06s, too. Fingers crossed...

I wonder whether sliders are available for the '06 from Rocky Road Outfitters. A friend of mine is considering ordering sliders for his Wrangler from here, but I have no personal experience with this company.

The website claims that if you have a Toyota that needs sliders and they don't have them available for your particular vehicle, you can drop it off and get a free set of prototypes. Too bad you are not close to Utah.

Edit: I just clicked on the picture to the left of the page and scrolled to the bottom of the next page. The dropdown menu at the bottom of the page does list sliders for 2003-2006 for $269. They also claim to have a "lifetime guarantee" against bending or denting. These sound almost too good to be true. I would imagine that you would need to find a skilled welder to have them installed.

You can always make a set yourself. That's what exactly I did. They are bolt-on, but in different way, more safe for off-roading. Plus they have nice steps, so I'm using them as a step board too. Tested them on my last off-road trip - worked perfect.

Any pics of your setup? I was wondering if I could buy the weld on set and drill some holes to bolt on the mounting plates, but am hesitant due to fear of compromising the strength of both the sliders and frame.

The sliders are awesome, even though you told me how you built them, I can't wait to read your write up. Also I felt priviledged to be the first in this web site to see your new DIY mod for the cargo area. that rocked :rocker:
