I did the same. I mounted mine level with the rocker panel, that way my wife could use them to get in a little easier. Two years later and still great. Have used them a few times and they've definitely proved their worth.

I'm thinking of the 4xInnovations as well, but how far does it stick out? Also, is it at that angle only? Or does it come in pieces where I can mount it parallel with the floor versus at an angle?

I added plates to my 4xInnovation sliders. Mounted them flat to use them as steps. They work great.

When I get mine I'm going to do the same... How well do the plates protect from debris and dirt being slung up the doors?

They come in pieces. I would have preferred a bit more level but I still like the way it looks and at that angle the kickout is a bit farther out than the rear wheels. You could also get it without the kickout if you don't want the back out so far

I'm planning on building myself some rock sliders and i just might copy this idea.

They work very similar to the running boards. They keep most of the dirt/stones from hitting the doors (which is another reason I did them this way).

did the same with mine, needed something so my wife could get in and out of truck.
I had mine mounted at a 1 degree angle up, basically flat.
Then just put griptape on top.
Got mine from Addicted Offroad, they are Trailgear sliders, quality DOM tubing, cost at the time was $176 shipped to the door.
About $25 in spray paint what ever a roll of Grip Tape cost.
Then whatever you can get them welded on for which could be anywhere from free, a case of beer, $50 on up to $400.
Seems to me the average cost to have them welded on would be about $125.

On yours I noticed the mounting plates have holes. Are they welded on? Or bolted on?

I'd say most sliders available can be mounted to accommodate your needs. Probably more important to find a good and reasonable welder. My friend and I have the exact same sliders. Mine cost $75 to get welded on while the shop who did his tried to charge him $350. I think they settled on $200, but still...
During the latest group buy, I just ordered a set of Shrockworks sliders with the dimpled tread plate option. While I don't have them yet, I think they'll be a good compromise between slider and running board and the tread plate should help with debris hitting the doors/rocker trim.

Man that looks nice, I also like the Shockworks. Decisions decisions. I don't even know where to get diamond plate at along with a person to cut and weld it for me... But I do like that set up, looks sick! Shockwork just more convenient and probably more cost effective.
