slow kid trying to finish timing belt install

Hey guys, I'm in a tough spot with this timing belt install. I've managed to get as far as putting the accessory belts back on... but cant remember the positions/ locations of the belt tension-er. I tried to search and could not find a write up of the install to try and figure out the next step.

Any help is appreciated Worst part about the whole ordeal was almost losing a couple fingers when the cam sprung around without warning!

the old belt, one would assume it was done at 100k, so it had about 120k on it.

Has anyone ever seen a radiator do this or be fixed like this?

New toyota belt, advance water pump, thermostat, napa idler bearings... and probably something I'm forgetting.

Still to be put in, new radiator and b&m transmission cooler.

Ill hit up toyota on monday for some red coolant.... assuming I figure out / remember how to tighten these v-belts!

Which tensioner are you speaking of? The TB tensioner is of course in place if you have you new TB in, and the accessory tensioners are awkward but near each accessory.

look at that empty bracket beside my power steering pump in the last pic.

also, I may have taken the one off for the alternator.

The only one I can get on and tight is the a/c because I wasn't a dummy and left the bracket on!

Blain,

Kball is on the ball (pun intended) with providing the link for tightening the drive belts. Make sure to have the fan clutch and bracket secured first.

When tightening, the PS pump belt should be the tightest with about 1/4" deflection, the ALT 1/4" to 3/8", and the AC belt should have a deflection of 1/2".

As a rule of thumb, looser belts cause no damage to bearings where as overtightened ones can. If in doubt, leave looser and tighten up as you go.

looks like we have another 14 year old part failing. Not quite sure what it is though, the hoses are too far back to be the heater core... possibly the rear seat heater?

Other than this leak everything else seems to be holding just fine. 20 mile test drive and the needle stayed put right where it should be. I was also amazed with how well the new cooler turned out.

For what it's worth I don't think your slow at all. Most "slow" kids have trouble dressing themselves, let alone a t-belt. Real clean install on the trans cooler too.

Yep, looks like the rear heater lines. There are fixes posted for that.
