smart key and side doors

2013 Limited with smart key.

I can't figure this out, or it means its broken.

I put the smart key in pocket. Get close to FRONT DRIVER door. Pull the door handle and make sure I touch the sensor at the back of the handle. The FRONT DRIVER door opens. No other side door is unlocked.

I put the smart key in pocket. Get close to FRONT PASSENGER door. Pull the door handle and make sure I touch the sensor at the back of the handle. ALL side doors unlock at this time, including the back seat side doors on both sides.

Is this expected behavior?

Yep normal behavior, there might be a way to program the driver side door to unlock all the doors, but I prefer it the way you mentioned for safety reasons. If I open my door first, I am usually alone so no need to unlock any other doors. If my wife is with me (and me being the gentleman that I am) I open her door for her first, and my driver's door will be unlocked by the time I walk back around to get in :)

If you hold down the lock and unlock button at the same time for ~5-7sec you will hear 2 beeps; this indicates ALL doors will unlock by touching driver's door -Repeat- 1 beep indicates only driver's door will unlock. I dont believe this has any impact on the passenger door functionality...

Haha...except when I open the driver side front door, a lot of time I have more than two small kids with me and they are all supposed to ride in the back. And they all got there ahead of me and started pulling the back door handles like crazy...and I am too lazy to reach in my pocket.

Well as long this is a "feature" and not a bug, I'll live with it.

Americas High Five is correct. I reset mine the same way to open all at once. I don’t really live in a dangerous place so I wasn’t worried and I don’t routinely open the door for my kids... the wife yes, kids not so much. lol

on the 2014's drivers door is set to only open the drivers door. I used techstream to change it to unlock all doors, cause hell if im gonna open the door for the warden. she has arms :)
