Smart Key and Tailgate Window - Does it work?

Hi-
Can you open/close the tailgate window with the smart key remote on the Limited? My remote doesn't do it - but I have seen the video from toyota that shows it being done. I called two dealers and they don't know if it can be done or not.

No. I searched though every document and it can't be don't from what I can tell. I'm sure if you really wanted it to happen, you could get something aftermarket to do it.

You CAN'T open the tailgate window with any button on the smart key....BUT if you have the key with you and you hold the down up/down arrow button on the tailgate the window will go down or up. I was releived to find that this worked rather than having to go into the car turn it on and roll down the window.

I had all my other windows including the sunroof programmed to go down with the smart key.

On the non-Limiteds you can use your physical key to put the hatch window up and down.

I believe that you can have to hatch window programed to open with the smart key. See video go to 2:45. Yes to hold for approx. 1 sec.

I went to 2 dealers,,,,but spent a significant amt of time trying to get the back window to operate with the smart key and they said it couldnt be done...only the side/sunroof windows.....that youtube video is "magic"

Same deal for me. The only window the dealer could not program was the tailgate.

Ditto here. Mine rolls down all windows but the tailgate with my key, which is fine for me since I can just use the controls on the window. It woulda been nice but ah well, this is life. I wish I could roll the windows back UP with the smart key.. lol.

Man, that is lame! Why did they have to take features away from me!?!?! My 2005 4Runner (SR5) did this with the key. Lame!
