Snorkel without drilling the A-Pillar?

Can you get away with installing a snorkel without drilling the A-pillar?

It's easy to get a replacement fender, install that one, and drill it instead of the one that came on the car. I'm not really concerned about the fender, but I really don't want to drill the pillar.

I read a post about someone using double-sided tape, but I'm not sure how effective that is.

I doubt it’s effective. From where it attaches to the fender to the top of the snorkel is like 3 feet. That’s a lot of unsecured real estate. I don’t plan on removing mine so I wasn’t that worried. I wouldn’t trust double sided tape. I just think if something catches it, it’s going to cause a lot more damage

It may not be recommended, but yes, you can get away with installing a snorkel without drilling the A-pillar.

I too, wanted to try the install with extreme/outdoor rated double-sided tape, knowing I could always go back and drill the A-pillar if I needed to.

I think I installed my snorkel towards the end of 2017, and it has not budged at all..... 80 mph highway speeds into strong headwinds, and it has never moved. It still feels as solid today, as it did the day I completed the install.

I've had mine installed with double layers of 3M VHB tape for two years now. Zero issues and still holding strong. I wanted a 0% chance of any hidden leaks that I would find years later.

I still used the bracket as a mounting point for the tape. Also, there's positive pressure between the A-pillar and bracket, so it won't be pulling on the tape. Just be sure to remove any wax or other surface contaminants so the tape doesn't come off.
