Snow Plow?

I 'know' that attaching a snow plow to the front of a 4Runner is not recommended but WHY?

I see pickups with snow plows all of the time. What's the difference between them and a 4R?

I have a 600' driveway and would like to use my 2011 Limited to clear the snow. Any options? Would a front plow be ok JUST for my driveway, i.e.. not using it for commercial purposes. I live in SE PA and we have 6-8 snow storms a year of 8"+

My guess "note I said guess" is that the frame isn't strong enough to support it. You typically see plow on full sized trucks only, and typically HD/Diesel truck. I found this website below, which may or may not be useful, but based on the pricing, you may be better off paying someone a couple times a year to plow for you or buying an ATV plower.

If you have 600' of driveway, you must have a large property. Seems you'd have (or need) a big yard tractor. That'd be the route I'd take.

Built like a brick. When plowing snow, traction is king.

No way on this green earth would I put a plow on a new 4R. What? You're gonna drive around with a plow hanging on a NEW LE? Or, put it on, take it off? PITA. What about hydraulics? Cheaper to buy a used 4WD Kubota or something.

I've seen plows on the front or Wranglers, Dakotas, Cherokees, and a few others around that size, not saying that it is the right thing to do, but just that it can be done.

Before I put a plow on my new 4R I would look around for a 'beater' truck w/ plow that someone is looking to dump. Probably be the same as buying a new plow and having it installed. Just would have to find a place to hide that rig when you are not using it.
