Well I finished the York install. Had to move the coils and mount them to the York brace bracket. Yes my ac still works (: , It's a York 210 long stroke along with a 5 gal air tank mounted in the rear spare tire location<br>

tested the york compressor 6psi to 36psi (1 minute 30 seconds)

I had the same thought. I didn't want to add a heavy plate bumper . I only wheel once in a while and I didn't want to lug around a bunch of weight.

I even ditched the steel cable and roller fairlead and went with synthetic. Lighter, stronger, safer, easy to handle and it floats.

Hiding the winch also protects the rope from UV rays.


Question? You have a good 2 to 4 inches to the top of you bumper. How come you didn't mount your winch higher. I think it will help with approach angles and front ground clearance.

i mounted it low (bottom of frame) because at the time i wanted the option to be able to take the body lift out. i also dont have any plastic under the bumper
 
Bet you don't have those 35s anymore and there on my buddys Tacoma hahaha. I just found this build, he just got them mounted and trimmed for clearance.
 
Finished the turbo install. Runs great now. Set to about 7psi. Still has good afr till about 10psi.

OK, I'll bite. What did you do? I was looking at the turbo set ups available as kits, because here in CA we have to have certification on such things. I know I could build my own and be cheaper, but it won't fly. I still am interested in the technology so give us the details. Please.

Also interested in more details on the turbo setup. I would love some extra power for pulling my boat and can't shell out $1500-$2000 for a supercharger. Either on the 4runner or the Tacoma.
 
It's a custom manifold to the turbo because of the extremely tight space. The intake is just some bent aluminum piping to the engine. The intake snorkel goes from the turbo to the stock intake box location. The turbo I think is a bit oversized t3t4 57trim internal wg.

I needed to pull boats also and with the extra 100hp it should do the trick.


Iballengineer the trick is not to get pulled over. The cops won't think of popping my hood unless the blowoff valve goes off next to them.

As for smog. The turbo unbolts and the cat bolts back in. So every two years it takes about an hour
 
If you don't have a York compressor I would recommend just doing a under the turbo, it would be a lot easier and cheaper

So you literally un-turbocharge your rig every two years? Wow!

I'ma think about dis reeeeeel hard. heh. Love to see some better pictures. And do you get a check engine light or do you simulate the O2 sensor?
