4runner build 35s on ifs
There’s a lot of reasons. Mostly to match the front
The leaf setup is a lot stronger then the original links.
My front leaf setup with frenched hangers is about the lowest a leaf sas 3rd gen can get. When I had the long lc springs with a 1in spacer ontop. It was still sitting a few inches shorter in the rear and the short links where at a steep angle. Also the soft springs would sag a lot with any weight in the back.
I have been asked this a few times. This link does a better job explaining http://toyota.off-road.com/trucks-4x4/project/project109.html
Why do people convert the rear to a leaf spring when they do a SAS ?
