I really need to do this one of these days. I love my mobile HAM setup compared to the hand held units, but I do admit I worry a bit when I'm transmitting because even on low, it's still 25w and has a wide reach.

Get one of the free study apps on your phone, and spend 30 min a day going through the questions. After 2 or 3 weeks of that you would be good to go.

Yeah I have the practice tests app, I just quit doing it after awhile. Need to get back to it.
 
Woot! Cleared by the doc today. I can start working on regaining strength. Should be back in action by Feb.

Itching to get out. Locker tube is fixed. Shocks got dropped off this morning (should have them back later this week) Think I'm going to try to pull my UCAs today. Should have my gusseted spindles today too. Still need to rebuild a CV and put my 3" coils in the rear. Then it's just a matter of putting her back together and getting out. Arm isn't 100% but it's enough to load/unload the 4runner and setup camp and should be even better in a couple weeks by the time I'm ready.

Still lots of little stuff adding to big work. Get that thing put together and lets go wheelin!

Other topic, I found out the limits of Lucy pearl running broncos peak. Trail is no joke. Definitely rely on a great spotter. Looking for an 85 4runner to rock crawl.

Tires, lockers, gears can make LP a better crawler but nothing like a dedicated solid axle build to really have the fun. I'm hoping to pretty much be back together within 2 weekends. Probably have to bribe a buddy to come put the 3rd member back in since I doubt I'll have enough strength back by then. If I can't sell these 33s I might just keep running them for the time being because I need that money to pick up the spare 35 + wheel.
 
Here's Robert taking the harder line I've never seen anybody take on that same boulder. You either take the left or right but not the middle. He's the first one I know that took that line. 85 4Runner solid front axle with dual case TC, dual lock and other crap.

I see 85s pretty often for sale. But sometimes it could be cheaper getting a IFS and swapping to your liking. The stock axle is ok but once you start locking and running bigger tires your likely to start breaking birfs. So for a proper front axle build your looking at birfs, inner axles, knuckles, high steer, upgraded ps pump hydro assist, axle truss.
Ya it's not just a one and done type of thing

There was a lifted 85 floating around up here for like 8k not too long ago. Think there was a 2nd gen SAS and 3.4 swap awhile back too. When the time comes I'll probably just buy a built up one. Cheaper and easier than doing it myself. Haha.

Yeah. Thought about that and less headache. I came across a few sas from bakersfield on down to sd. Still looking and see if I can find a good deal.
