So Cal 4Runner BS Thread

Just venting Beofang's customer service is utter trash!!!!!!! :mad2::redbrick:

On our last run in Anza my 2 way was giving me many problems battery wasn't lasting long after full all night charge, would get hot, I would get a shock or jolt when I would press the call button down, would get random interference when no one was talking.

So I contacted Beofang directly since it was already outside of my amazon return window. They rma'd my original for free and I was responsible for shipping to them only, $15 big deal right. I sent the rma back with the battery and I received the replacement without a battery so I had to wait another 2-3 days for the battery to arrive, already a little irritated. Now when I go to use the radio with the "menu" button doesn't work so I contact Beofang back and they said I need to send the radio back for another rma and that I'm again responsible for shipping to them...this is where I get pissed!

Why am I responsible for shipping if they didn't properly test the rma replacement? Man I'm never going to buy another product of theirs again! I get that cheap Chinese radios will have their problems but if the customer service is garbage that's not ok in my book!

Oh well I just bought a brand new one from Amazon and when it gets here I'm going to swap it with the shitty rma replacement and return it. That way I don't need to pay for anything (I have prime)...also I'm going to trash Beofang on their shitty customer service in the Amazon reviews!

Well Beofang customer service kinda redeemed themselves but too little too late. They ended up sending me another radio without letting me know. This was all after I did the Amazon switcharoo, so now I guess I have 2 radio's just one without a battery. So I just bought one of those corded battery packs that plug directly into the 12v power port.

It's just sad that they completely stopped responding to me when I told them that I wasn't going to pay for shipping to them again.

Just waiting on someone with a 4th gen and a 5th gen to jump on the "will never sell it" train

:naughty:
the only thing i would sell mine for would be a FZJ100. my wife loves the 4th gen though, so she'll probably get it some day. and then it will go to our first born.

My lady and I decided months ago that not only are not going get rid of our 5th gen, we will be getting a second one for her.

So..... This week I decided to part with my 3rd gen due to the amount of rust due to lack of care from the previous owner. On a high note I was able to get a FZJ80 for a couple bills. Thing is a freaking tank. Today hired someone to detail engine and exterior while I was gone for the day. I get home and see him power washing my engine bay. My worst thoughts came true when I told him to turn over the engine..... It runs but after a minute the CEL light came on. Any suggestions my fellow southerners.... I know its not a lost cause, but I dont have any tools or such?
On a bright note I have a fresh gallon of Mango Moonshine! Its a little harsh so we're going to try again for something smoother!!!

Let it dry out. Could be something simple like a wet connection. Also pull the code if you can

I miss my 80 series. But it should be fine, mine suffered from a lower gasket leak and was very grimy, regularly degreased and pressure washed. Pics of the 80 series or I'll report you to the mods!

Alienware 13 FHD 13-Inch Gaming Laptop (Intel Core i5 5200U, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, Silver and Black) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M with 2GB GDDR5

So this is being offered to me in a trade for a 4 year old mac. Does anyone know anything about this Alienware?

Last weekend I hit up Anza-Borrego for some very minor 4x4 and a lot of hiking & camping.

We started at the DOS Cabezas side. I thought it would be empty but there were 20+ other people we came across, including two scout troops. Hike was about 9 miles round trip but at least it was flat.

the pics look great! what are you shooting with?

Thanks. The full set are in my build thread.

I am shooting with a Nikon D7000 and 10-24 Nikon lens. Pic #1 is an HDR via bracketing. It looked better in BW than in color.

:)

Funny, I was watching an old California Gold episode a few days ago. They were running on that railway and had a shot of those boxcars down the hill.
