DT has had headers available for the 5th gen for some time now. There are a number of people on here running them.

Me? Being a new vehicle it didn't need emissions testing for the first 2 years so at 2 years I took it in and came up as " low voltage" FAIL on the tester even with the SIM's hooked up. They didn't actually look to see the the cats removed but just plugged into the OBDII port. I took them off and put the factory manifolds with cats back on and passed and didn't put the headers back on.

Not exactly real easy removal/install as you have to take all the exhaust loose back to the muffler and the manifold nuts are fairly hard to get to so wasn't worth it for me to swap them every year. If I lived in a place where there was no emissions testing they would still be on. Better to save up a little more and re-gear with 4:56'S and get way more bang for your buck if you want low end power though IMO.

Surprised I'm the only one on here's that's regeared so far with all the people whining about the lack of low end torque and bad shift points as that's the only real fix out for now.They make it so much more driveable albeit at the cost of highway gas mileage. Headers didn't fix it but did help some.

They are on my short list. I didn't have much issue with the 4R at sea level and mostly stock. Now, with a few (maybe more than a few) hundred extra pounds and living at over 7000 ft, I spend most of my time in 3rd and 4th gear on the highway.

Need new tires soon too, just can't decide to go with 285/75 KM2s, 305/70 KM2s, 285/70 MTR, or 305/70 MTR...

good to know, been thinking about re-gearing (and airlocking front) and about headers just haven't got off my butt and done either.

Gotta agree that re-gearing is the way to go. Just hesitant to go all the way to 4.56 with only 285/70/17s (and I do not tow at all). Does anyone sell 4.10 to 4.30 gear sets for 5th Gens? In general, how much should labor cost for re-gearing?

That harper would even allow into his brain the notion of installing / reinstalling headers reveals much about his mechanical wizardry. Time for him to change his avitar pic.

That's what I heard from Nitro also. Being that I don't even do too much highway driving anyway, 4.56 may be OK. Do you have any idea of labor cost or hours to do the job? I know it could vary a lot but I have no idea or a starting point.

2 planes tickets for Harper and me to Hawaii should about cover it. Oh, he will be doing the work as I scout the beaches.
 
Call up East Coast Gear Supply and see. I know it's already somewhat pricey to have the front and rear diffs set up, but shipping would probably be quite high to get it to Hawaii. You can get them to send set up diffs already and then you send back your cores as soon as you got your stuff from them I believe.

Oh and a 3rd ticket to Hawaii. I don't have a problem wrenching, albeit no experience with gears.

Thanks all! You guys are so helpful (lol). So it will only be 3 round trip tickets to Hawaii and the cost of actually having someone set up the gears and of course, the gears themself. What a deal! I do have a pretty big place so we could all have one raging party. I'll be sending out the formal invitations shortly.
