i need to start budgeting for new brake pads and rotors. i'm getting some shake during braking so i'll most likely be replacing pads and rotors, just to be safe.
what pads and rotors do you guys recommend? is OEM the way to go, or is there a step up from OEM that won't brake the bank (see what i did there?)?

Shout out to @%1;mwray8909 for great work on my Bilstein install. Took a half-day and learned a ton. Happy with the results. Definitely PM him if you're planning on an install in the Ventura County area.

Ok kids, I've got a really random one.
Any of you window lickers do arbor work, tree trimming, removal? I need 2 palm trees de-bearded and a ficus tree out of my life forever. I'd rather pay one of my many internet friends for the job than a stranger.

Lotta guys in the 5th gen thread are upgrading to Powerstop. I may do the same when its time to replace.

My ex's aggressive braking habits warped the OEM rotors on our ’03 4Runner and ’08 Sequoia while the original pads still had 50% material remaining. because good results on previous vehicle, I went an unconventional route and used Stillen Sport rotors. Never had a warping problem again. These days, it looks like they only offer drilled or slotted/drilled options - no solid rotors. I always picked up parts from their facility across from John Wayne airport.
I am curious to hear other’s experience about rotors and pads for 4Runners that see occasional off road use. My previous 4Runner and Sequoia only saw the street. I liked the Hawk LTS series pads on those trucks. They provided good bite, were quiet, wore well and did not generate excessive dust.

Being that you do not need a specialty shop for that work, I would recommend Allen Tire on Beach, near Main. The manager Matthew seems really fair, respectful and knowledgeable.
I also trust Gustafson Brothers on Gothard, near Main. They run a really professional operation, and can do everything.

Hello all. I come bearing unfortunate news, I am looking for a shop that does install on rear bumpers!! I was involved in an accident yesterday(this is how I knew the pats were going to win lol) got caught up on a nasty patch of black ice while headed to bear mountain in big bear. Im left with a cracked rear bumper and some insurance money as well as the greenlight from the warden for an after market rear bumper. I'm leaning towards the Southern Style off road rear, no need for an original bumper and it doesn't look half bad. Any help would be appreciated on local shops! Located in Rancho Cucamonga (15 and 210) but am willing to make a drive for a reputable shop.
EDIT: also looking for any local companies that make rear bumpers? Just got off the phone with SS and they are currently not accepting orders for their rear bumpers. Also, spoke with a rep at CBI and they have a lead time of 6 weeks!
