Awesome Oscar! How old is your daughter? I am encouarging my two kids with anything that helps them think it will be fun! If other kids are coming, they are more inclined to be motivated.

Cheers
Mark

She is 8 and most likely will be playing with her gameboy. But it would be great if I can get her off that thing. And my wife is already freaking out about scratching or getting her truck stuck. So this will be fun.:p

Cool...my son 8yrs loves gameboy too. Depends upon what takes their fancy but he and his sister 12yrs will either be playing gameboys, listening to CD's or watching the DVD. Maybe they can hook up during lunch break.

Cheers

this looks like to be a pretty decent turn out guys! oh yea, how many people are going on saturday? i'd like to go saturday but don't want to reserve a campground just for myself. if someone wants to share a campground i'm more than willing to split the cost. :bigok:

I'd consider splitting a campsite with ya but it looks like no tents are allowed at the available site (unless I misunderstood). My 4Runner doesn't sleep 4. :D

But the four of us are definitely in. We'll look for you Saturday at 9:00 to 9:30.

We will be up there on Saturday staying in a motel - most likely The Whispering Palms or the Oasis Motel (just waiting on price confirmations).

I guess most of Sunday might be taken up with wheeling so on Saturday we might go check out the mud canyons and caves.

Would also like to do a little hiking on Saturday and maybe see some native painting but I believe they are well hidden. I'd love my kids to see these as comparison to the native Australian paintings.

Its great to have people like spblat on board who have been there before.

My whole family is realy looking forward to this trip and meeting you all.

Cheers
Mark

How about you guys adding your first name either to your sig or your posts so we know who the hell everyone is;): by 'real' name rather than sig name:D

I'm still not 100%, it turned out to be a rather busy weekend, but I'm trying. BTW, my PM box is almost full again dammit, so email me (via button in profile) if you need to get in touch. Thx.

Will, Cheifiji, any of you going on Saturday...do you have an idea what time your getting to the campground?

Maybe we might catchup sometime on Sat. daytime, or for some camp action on Saturday night?

I hope you can make it Jason - want to check out all your mods.

Cheers

Just started thinking about how ealry I need to wake up to meet up at 9:30. Might be best to spend the night on Sat. Has anyone gotten any prices from the local motel and hotels? Just planning on sleeping there, so wanted to keep the price down.

-Oscar

04runner or my04runner, if any of you two want to split a campsite let me know and i'll make the reservation tomorrow. if we camp on saturday, i'm gonna leave home around 12 and hopefully get to anza by 2-3. this way we'll get about 2 or 3 hours of sunlight before the sunests @ 5 to setup camp and do a little bit of exploring. let me know.

Oscar - hopefully tomorrow I should have prices from three motels in Borrego Springs. I will post them for asap.

We are looking at The Whispering Sands, The Oasis Motel and one other I can't recall the name of. Anyhow, we were expecting less than $80 for the night. The expensive resort styles are anywhere from $120 to $400 for the spa resort...yikes!

My family of four will probably leave home about 10am so expect to be there early afternoon.

Cheers

Borrego Palm Canyon campground sites

Reserve America shows tent campsites still available.

Go to:
http://www.reserveamerica.com/jsp/commonpage.jsp?goto=/usa/ca/anza/newindex.html

Below the campgorund map, click on the link that says:
Borrego Palm Canyon
This will give you a popup window.

In the popup window, click on the link that says:
What's Available
that is to the right of the link that says either
Sites 108-120 or Sites 53-89

You will the get to the campground search page; enter the criteria of January 22, 2005 1 night and click on Find Campsites button. This should take you to a page that shows the availability of "Standard 31 ft. Developed" campsites, these campsites are available for tent camping, accept 2 vehicles, up to 8 people and have a fire ring and sheltered picnic table. At this moment it shows that 45 are still available for Saturday night.

Sunday meeting location.

meeting time is sunday 9-930. are we meeting up at boreggo palm canyon campground?
I suggest that we meet at the Visitor Center that is in Borrego Springs at the west end of Palm Canyon Drive, it is near the campground. There is a parking lot somewhere there for the Visitor Center. Do we meet in the parking lot or in front of the Visitor Center?

i just called the visitor center and they said the parking lot would be a good place to meet up.

here's the address: 200 palm canyon drive, borrego springs, ca 92004. >>>mapquest

Just confirming the prices for motel accomodation

Palm Canyon Resort 130 + tax

Whispering Sands Motel 95 + tax

Two others have yet to return my email:mad:

We will be staying at Palm Canyon Resort on Saturday Night. Likely ETA will be around 2-3pm. If we know what time you campers are expecting to be at the campground, we may try catching up with you Saturday evening.

Otherwise we will see you all on Sunday at the Visitor Centre Parking Lot 9-9.30am.

Cheers
Mark

it looks like i probably wont be camping saturday night so i'll be meeting up with you folks sunday morning. :bash: for not being able to camp, :) for at least being able to go offroad sunday.
