Some One Hit Me!!!

hey mark.
good eye man! I think I may have found the car that hit me... dumb jacka$$ was parked a couple of streets away. My sister was driving through the neighborhood and saw a greenish/blue Toyota camry (LE) with the passenger side mirror GONE.
We got the license plate and called the cops to come by and take a look. Unfortunately before the police got there, the car was gone. Good thing is that we got the plate number. Another good thing... the cops are going to charge that MoFo with a hit and run... which I believe is a felony.
Oh, regarding the part numbers... I'm sure there was a number somewhere on the damn mirror, but the first time I looked at it, I wasn't really paying attention. Then, when I thought about it and you guys had suggested it... the cops had already collected the mirror as evidence. Maybe they will do some investigation for me
I'll keep you guys updated.

I am glad you were able to find the guy. At least he won't get away with what he did. Did the guy get arrested yet? How much damage did his car have? This guy is a genius: First he leaves the mirror at the scene and then he parks the car a few streets away from where the accident happened. If I had to guess, he must have been driving home from a long night at the bar!

On the other hand, that would be an interesting argument in court. "Your honor, I didn't intend on leaving the scene of the accident. I was so wasted, I didn't even know I hit something!"
It sucks to see the damage, but this thread made me wonder if CBS should start a new show: CSI:T4R.

glad to see you're getting somewhere with this. i didn't just immediately eyeball that mirror as being from a last gen camry...i knew it looked like a late model toyota mirror from the basic design, then went on autotrader.com and checked out some pictures of the models i suspected it could be from. good to hear it wasn't all for not.

mine has been hit 3 times since i got it in march
each rear corner and a door ding
thats what happens with big piece of crap plastic bumpers (targets) on our macho trucks.
just had everything repaired for $600.
now i'm getting some waag bumper guards.

They'll probably get 4-5 charges (leaving the scene, failure to maintain control of vehicle, failure to report damage, etc). They were probably drunk, maybe a suspend license.
I can see a good reason for a NOVA meet.
