Hey guys... I just bought an '04 SR5 Sport last week. Enjoying the forum, already picked up a tip -- to buy a Viper alarm (330, the basic). The dealer had talked me into Lojack and I dropped that because alarms have always served me well, and this one is great.
Have a couple questions... My new ride has 44k mi., two owners -- think it was leased then purchased -- and it is certified but of course with only one year left on the powertrain warranty. I'm going to have a mechanic check it out (better late than never). I bought the manufacturer warranty, it's four years 75k mi. -- I don't drive a lot so it will last the four years. It cost $2100 and has a $50 per incident deductible. I know less than nothing about engine work. It seems like a bet against the car's reliability, and if I cancel the warranty it's a bet for no large repairs or if there is one, it costs less than $2k to repair. I've done searches for threads discussing the extended warranties and still am undecided whether to keep it, cancel it and buy an after-market warranty, or cancel period. Here's the question... For those who've owned their 4th gen. for a while, what have you needed to repair and at what cost?
Other question is more fun! It has the 17" factory wheels and I'm thinking about how nice chrome would look on it. (Color is midnight blue) What do you think? I don't want to spend a lot esp. because it makes theft more likely and my alarm is a basic one. Also there's a place that chrome plates the factory wheels which would look good but that's not the most economical option. Any rec's as to specific wheels that are moderately priced and not desirable enough to swipe?

They said it's in great shape, interesting that they repainted the bumper and didn't finish cleaning up/buffing out, so I'm taking it back for that.
