Someone hit me..

So, someone hit my truck and didn't leave a note. I made and claim and went to my appraisal today, who said the truck would be written off due to the age. The trucks in great shape, and I have no intentions of getting rid of it so I immediately backed out.

I got hit on the back of the passenger fender, so the fender will need to be replaced. Anyone know where I should get one wether its OEM, or aftermarket?

I remember helping my buddy do a fender when he decided to turn too sharply with a pylon in the way. We pulled one out of a salvage yard for about 75 bucks with the right paint. Otherwise I think Rockauto.com does replacement fenders but they will be primered and you will have to paint.

Sorry to hear that man. I'm pretty sure you'd be able to find an OEM fender for less than your claim would have been at a near by junkyard. I recently got a rear bumper from aftermarket on ebay and it was definitely a good a value. Good luck.

Not a lot of damage at all. The fender was hit and pushed in blocking the door from opening. No damage to the door and luckily its on the passenger side haha!

If they total it, take all their money and have a body shop paint a fender for you and have fun with the rest of the money. However, being in Canada you might have difficulty with the lower two bolts on the fender so you may need a drill and tap, possibly the fender spacer down there too if it's corroded away as mine were.
Anyway, buy a fender, paint it, put it on. EZ

They give you the difference between salvage value and what the vehicle is worth. Mine was totaled, got a nice check, fixed it, no salvage title for me. If the work is done correctly I don't think a salvage title should be scary, I've seen plenty of clean title cars that are death traps. Besides, we're talking about a fender unless it did go into the hinge pillar.

They totaled my daughter's 99 4Runner and I negotiated to keep the vehicle with a clear title and they paid the claim less the actual value of it. Claim was for $4253, less $900, check was for $3353 and the best part was we only paid $3300 for 2 weeks earlier. I bought a 2000 Limited for $2500 and used the remainder to fix the 99 myself.

lol, its almost ALWAYS worth it to keep the car, especially if the damage isn't that bad.

If the door frame is damaged it can be a huge ass pain to fix. Post up some pics.

If you look at your estimate it will usually state what issues need to be addressed. To me it sounds like there is something wrong with the body/door frame and thats why it wont open. Usually a dented fender wont cause door not to open unless the frame is wedging the door shut.

the rear fender is part of the unibody, so thats why its so expensive, there is no bolt on option, you need to basically get in there and beat out the dents.

Run a few layers of masking tape along the door edge adjacent to the fender, from the top of the door to the bottom to protect the paint during the next step. Once its protected use a flat head screw driver or pry bar to bend the fender out and align it flush with the door or get it as close as possible. When the fender is bent back out you can then open the door. With the door open you can then grasp the edge off the fender with your hands and pull it out easier than you could with the pry bar, but be careful as some of the fender edges where you will be grabbing are sharp as razor blades.

Except he said, and the picture shows, it's the rear edge of the front fender on the passenger side.
