For those of you who see the rusty vehicles pa and the northeast have to offer, this is miraculous for being a rust belt truck!
 
Holy bajeezers....buy it buy it buy it...for what he's asking that is an insanely clean truck. Mine came from a place that doesn't use salt, is 2 years newer, and isn't close to that clean.

Seriously? Yes it does look freshly painted, but does anyone here at all not think that 90% of that frame looks brand new.

And barring anything terrible I'm going to. Just waiting on the insurance check. Btw I got another 250 out of them for my "after market lights" thanks to brian2sun,(they were clear corners he gave me for free!) My pre purchase installed bfgs. And a block heater that I found while changing the oil. Lol
 
I'm not saying I think the rust is bad. It might be just surface rust but the frame looks freshly painted and they aren't normally so the only reason to do that is to make it look better than... rusty?

Only way to tell is see it in person and scrape some of that paint off.
 
Nah, it's fine. I cleaned and painted the frame on my '99. It wasn't rusted at all, in fact I did all that work to prevent it from rusting. I'd buy that one with confidence. In fact, if you pass on it let me know, I may contact him.

Its mine! Lol no I really think I'm gonna go after it once I get my check. It was a dealer owned and maintained vehicle til last year so it spent every night in a garage and was meticulously undercoated and cared for.
 
i clean and paint my frame at least once a year to keep rust from happening too. the last time i did, i used rubberized undercoating, its much better and tougher, i also sprayed all of the underside of the floor pan too.

its clean, dont worry about it, and yeah buy it! if there was rust youd see it even thought the paint

Exactly. The wrecked one had that rubberized stuff and it kept it in great shape. Gonna be using that for sure. And you can definitely tell where they're covering it up. The dealer did it on the hitch, which didn't really matter to me, but you can tell.

That frame looks way too good to be on that, definitely looks freshly painted to me, I could be wrong though. But looking at the inner part of that frame, it looks like to me that is layers of rust and he just painted over it. I spray undercoating at work, and even a vehicle with 50k on it, I would be hesitant to do, once there is a little corrosion or surface rust on there, and undercoat is sprayed over it, that has nowhere to go but to spread under the coating, unless you take a grinder to it and get it all clean before. Undercoating also is usually the whole underside of the vehicle, not just the frame. Kind of looks like he masked everything off except the frame and went to town with the rattle can or undercoat or whatever. If it's something that happens a lot in the Northeast, I would definitely check it out, especially if the truck has been up there it's whole life. Like the guy above me said, he could have cleaned it up and painted it which I don't see a problem with, but parts of that inner side looks like he might have just painted right over it.

Sorry man, wasn't trying to be an a$$ I just really think its in great shape. But you guys do have me a bit skeptical and it will be getting a very thorough, well even more thorough look down when I get to see it and drive it. Appreciate your concern guys and sorry be being a..... fill in the blank :D
 
I agree too that it looks painted. You can see spots where it looks like rust bubbles underneath it. That would make me cautious.
 
I don't think anyone is denying that fact that the rails are painted. But I think you guys are over thinking it. Inside rail rusted but no where else? Come on. You're looking at a seam weld there. This is a clean truck. Believe it or not, some of us here in the Northeast do take care of our vehicles.
 
I agree with cody. Look at it again, this time sticking your head in enough to see the inside of each frame rail. It just looks clean because he sprayed over it with some paint, you can clearly see the overspray on the body. To me, thats a big red flag.

I definitely believe that there are people in the NE who take care of their vehicles, but also know that there are those who will do what they can to make something appear to be better than what it is. Which is why I used the word cautious. I would just want the potential buyer to make sure it is indeed preventative and not there because someone was trying to hide something.

I do see your point Pitbull, the underbody does look mega clean. Being from the Midwest, I'm subject to some rust but I not nearly as much as the Northeast. From what I've seen on here, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a northeastern 10+ year-old truck who's frame was perfect--without any rust, that is.

To the OP, I'd check it out one more time just to be sure you're sure about this ride. No hard feelings, man, just telling you what I think.
